Both NieR and cavia were brought up in this episode. If NieR: Replicant ver.1.22 ends up being a big success like Automata before it, what do you think that means for cavia’s legacy? Will their swan song game be rendered obsolete? Or would their legacy shine through the new version developed by another team? Is this a refinement of cavia’s ideas in order to make NieR into one of Square’s rising star series? Or will it be a revisionist history of a game that gained a cult following BECAUSE of its rough edges, not in spite of it? I’m very excited to play this game and witness the reception so I’d be happy to hear everyone’s thoughts beforehand.

Sure, but it’ll mislead people in later days if they think esper their only option is a 360 copy. There’s nothing technically superior (or even different, other than PS3’s AA) about the 360 release, and barring unexpected developments RPCS3 has advanced much faster than 360 emulation.

I am pretty confident that the new one will not replace the old, unless they keep the combat the same. BUT we shall seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I’m very skeptical!!!

In this episode all wrongs become right as things come full circle. All my questions are answered, glad the intention behind the forum is what it is, I could have used this sort of thing 10-13 years ago when social media started gripping my vulnerable millennial brain. All my epic video game ideas of yore were pearls cast upon the swine that was Tumblr circa 2009-2015.

should i join tim’s discord? he put out a pretty good case for it. i always assume though that it (or any discord with more than 5 people) would be way too stressful for me. while i’m sure i’m missing out by not hopping on the discord train, i’m not very good at real time communication! it takes me like an hour to go through all the psychological barriers necessary to post a paragraph like this. but maybe i should just force myself to pop in from time to time.

saddleblasters it moves pretty quick, even more so than the IC forums. don’t expect to keep up with everything. it’s good to just watch the conversation for a little bit, and speak up if you have something to add or a question to ask. that’s how i approach it at least!!

Bought On-Gaku off the hunch that I’d want to own it anyway and I’m real glad I did. It’s hilarious and looks nice as all hell. I had no idea Sakamoto’s voice is that deep. And it took Iwaisawa 7 years to make it! Wild stuff, I love it.

Neat to hear Diamante who indeed hasn’t been on the show before despite @exodus dutifully mentioning him for years at every discussion of IC history.
Fortnite original (now called “Fortnite: Save the World”) was released in July 2017, months ahead of Fortnite Battle Royale in September ’17. As “paid early access”, but come on, look at the history of that development and it’s the best release they could do: they just ran out of money. At the release of Fortnite BR (the last time I played it) it was listed a menu option under Save the World, I’m betting that’s not the case anymore! If you’re curious, PUBG was released on Steam in March ’17, though its history as an ARMA mod complicates things.
Not to return to the same games every week but video game come backs, there’s never been another on the scale of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, for recouping the enormous losses of 1.0 and turning it around to both profit and popular acclaim.
You guys have kind of gaslit yourselves with the Best-of 360 episode, because again NieR was never any kind of 360 exclusive.

That’s exactly the confusion I worry is being brought to people who take the recommendation to go back to NieR.

NieR is available on both 360 and PS3. The older protagonist is available on both 360 and PS3. All non-Japanese releases have the older protagonist. In Japanese releases, the older protagonist is on discs titled “NieR Gestalt”, the younger in “NieR Replicant”. There’s no real performance difference between 360 and PS3.
