treefroggy this sound is all very “dry” so doesn’t trigger the bad sound part of my brain - but I can see not liking the game’s sound in general. I think that for me the way it evokes the era is part of it - crappy realplayer-destroyed clips of music and scratchy ringtones were part of that time for me, so when I look at a handheld with a clear case I kind of expect it to sound like this, if that makes sense.
but at the same time it is annoying to have the music interrupted by the “voice” effect when she goes over an obstacle, and the game itself is somewhat mediocre - but I truly believe holding a wonderswan diagonally kind of makes this whole thing work really. It wasn’t until I did that that the game started to click.
It’s still not the best though, and not everything’s as on the beat as you might like, so… it makes a lot of sense for someone to try to like it and fail.
