in my restless dreams, I see that game… and that game is called
BLOODBORNE: BLOOD ROCK!!!
It’s the unlikely crossover between Bloodborne and Guitar Hero everyone in the entire video gaming world wants. Bloodborne’s music has somehow been rearranged into rhythm game-suitable heavy metal tracks, and you advance through different “venues” like Iosefka’s Clinic, Cathedral Ward, Moonside Lake, etc. At the end of each of these you engage in a guitar duel against a big ugly boss, all of whom are of course the same as in the real game: Rom the Vacuous Spider, Thomas the Tortured Turtle, and Harold the Horrible Horse.
Actually the interesting part about this dream was looking at the game and its physical packaging: it was clearly not produced or licensed by From or Activision, but seemed to have all of Bloodborne’s actual level assets and character models, and had a commercial release with advertising and retail promotion and so on. I was standing in the dream space staring at a GameStop-ish kiosk, complete with a cardboard display framing the TV: a big cartoony spider wearing a top hat, holding an electric guitar, sat atop the logo printed in a Guitar Hero-style typeface. Blood Rock!!!
