Hey hey, I’m edward. I’m a novelist of three out of print books and a bunch of interviews, reviews, and short stories that disappeared from the internet. The good news is that now short story markets are paying me for stories and essays that are coming later this year.

Relatively new to the podcast, mostly because I’m not a podcast kind of person, but this is now the only one I listen to. It’s real good, fellas.

Anyrate, I do a lot of writing about books and old games at a newsletter and sometimes I write about music I loved when I was thirteen over there, too. I’m excited that there’s still a forum that exists on the internet. Feels like the internet was a whole lot cooler when we had all these weird forums and no social media.

hello. my name’s todd. someone recommended this forum for me to share about the game i’ve been working on.

i make a living working on the maintenance team of a school district. my favorite band is prefab sprout. i like to make video games in my free time, and my biggest inspiration is love-de-lic/onion games. after being introduced to them it was like, wow these are the kinds of games i’ve always wanted to make! i used to be active on TIGS in the early 2010s, but haven’t been active in an online community in some time now.

my first video game memory is getting mad at someone I had a playdate with as a child because they wanted to stop playing “who framed roger rabbit” the game for NES and I DIDN’T want to stop playing “who framed roger rabbit” the game for NES so I ran away and got lost. one of his neighbors found me and gave me milk and called my parents.

found this place through the kotaku - action button - insert credit path that i imagine is well trodden. after suffering through resetera for a few years, i gotta say - you guys are way cooler! (i dunno if it’s ok to say that but there you go.)

i’m really into emulation, jrpgs, the mega drive and the ps1. also, disco elysium. currently playing unsighted, elden ring and phantasy star 4 and liking them all. really wanna play more yakuza stuff, too.

i dunno if i’m gonna stick to posting, but i’m definitely sticking around!

Having been on forums dot insert credit dot com for over a year I’ve barely, and rarely, seen anything as aggressive as a collected difference of opinion. This place is chill as heeeeeeck.

Hi, I’m Andy, and I’m a “Millennial”. We all agree on what a Millennial is: someone who has made 1000 posts on forums.insertcredit.com. I’m going to reintroduce myself for this - my 1001st post.

When Insert Credit started up in 2003, I discovered it pretty quickly from a Mad Man’s Cafe link, followed the front page, and over the years followed many of the original principals on Twitter. I never participated in the forums though. It felt to me at the time like the forums were the cool kids table and that I would be made to feel unwelcome. So for some reason I decided to post a bit on SA where I was absolutely made to feel unwelcome. I also was never was able to figure out if SelectButton.net was an IC offshoot, or a refuge after a spam attack or whatever.

I’ve also started a bunch of threads. I will not specifically be calling out the ones that didn’t work but uh… yeah, I made several bad ones that didn’t work at all. I also made a bunch of threads and posts that people seemed to enjoy and are still active.

I made a thread about Roguelikes where we all share our joy and frustration of winning/not at all winning a procedurally generated challenge.
I made a thread where new and old forum users can go get a new forum avatar if they want one and I’m wearing the one gifted to me.
I’ve made a series of posts in the Art Jam threads about how I write little chiptune songs and have shared them.
I wrote a thread about LUXURY GAMING because I started receiving GQ in the mail for like, a year. (It stopped I think.)
I’ve made a series of threads about toilets and bathrooms in AAA videogames.

This forum has been a positive influence in my life. Two years ago when Brandon and the team re-started the forums and the podcast, I was in on day one. I’m pretty sure my introduction post in in the first dozen or so in this thread (though I intentionally didn’t look before writing this). I didn’t know if it would stick with me but it sure has, and I have very much enjoyed being part of this community. Hanging out here has made me more comfortable with creative writing, prouder about making things for myself, and sharing fun things with each other new and old. I have become serendipitous IRL friends with someone because of this forum.

If you’re new, just go post. It will be more fun for you, and it’s fun for the whole group.

It is and I have looked for it. You said there it was likely you wouldn’t be posting a lot, well turns out you were WRONG, thankfully! Glad to have you here and here’s to another thousand posts, at the very least.

antillese this kind of post makes me happy!! I wanted this to be a place where people felt comfortable hanging out and trying things and I’m glad it can be that for some folks.

I do regret to inform you that insert credit started in 2001 though :o

shaggylobo basically just horrible political work environment and expectations of responding to 100+ emails per day. i was definitely on my way out due to multiple (verbal) altercations with managers, so when we were having a second child and and staring down 4000+/month in daycare costs it was an easy decision to quit and be the stay at home parent

exodus Ugh. I am glad I mistook that date because I absolutely have memories of IC in college and it was well-established in my brain when I was showing all my friends Project FF Dog on stops at houses on a road trip after I graduated.

Look, forgive me the date? Insert Credit has been in my life for literally half of it!

Insert Credit is a good thing and a good place, and we owe to Brandon a lot for bringing it back. This is something I have said many times already, but I’ll keep repeating it.

I’m currently sitting at my message number 1218, so a bit too late for me to do the same thing, but maybe I save it for my 2000th!

Hi, everyone! I am Kelzor. I’ve collaborated in a couple of videogames, written for some game media in Spain and taught narrative design classes. I also have a small video essay youtube channel that I started during the pandemic.
