yeso That must have been a pretty cool job. My mom was low tier management for a network of group homes for adults with developmental disabilities for most of her professional career (retired in the last few years), and in the field for, you know, the principled reasons, love and respect for the community under her care.
She had this one friend at work who really liked talking on the phone, and if anyone around was on the phone he would always want to talk to whoever was on the phone. So I would get to talk to him sometimes. His favourite thing was to say hello and how are you and the like, and then start in on saying stuff like “you know what… guess what…” and he liked if you asked him what was going on or what he had to say. He’d really rile you up asking what was on his mind, and then once your level of suspense was at a fever pitch, he’d say “……………..I’ve got a secret.” And this international man of mystery would of course not crack under pressure and would never divulge the secret no matter what you said after that, perhaps just in case he only had the one and would then not have anything to talk about on the phone, since one cannot both have and share a secret. He passed away some years ago and as far as my mom knows in doing so took his secret with him, and so the world will never know. Incredible commitment to a great joke if you ask me.
