I saw Socket mentioned in the Weird games found on my Xbox thread, and if there’s one thing that’s great about Socket on the Mega Drive, it’s the music. Never fails to get my energy up.

◉◉maru The music in Decapattack is awesome. In general, I adore spooky fun music coming out of a computer struggling to sing.

Speaking of which, Night Slashers has fun music as well.

I was going to single out a couple tracks but the entire thing is good. It’s old Sunsoft.

My 3DS was the Bravely Default and Monster Hunter 4 machine.

When Omega Force isn’t shackled by traditional weapons they get pretty wild. This is one of the best Musou titles and friends that usually loathe these games liked it. The characters and attacks are well represented and feel good. The cast of characters can change the game drastically. Some of them work off buff/debuffs and priming attacks rather than pure mashing. It even has KOF/MvC style assist using minor characters that didn’t make the roster. Makes me wonder what they could have done with a Marvel/DC game.

Oh and the music is pretty fun.

It’s fun to me that decap attack of all things got a comic section in that sonic archie series. not what I would’ve chosen, but good for vic tokai I guess!

Really loving the Command & Conquer remaster that’s out. It’s had me listening to the soundtrack on spotify again.

The remaster is great and done with a light touch, but the soundtrack really pops with the remastering they’ve done.

a lot of people have already posted some of my favorite soundtracks, but here’s a few that i still think about and listen to regularly

i’ve made music in various chip-trackers before but BGM1 still blows me away by how much it’s doing and how contemporary it still sounds compared to chiptune today

i love this whole soundtrack so much, but especially because it’s just so clearly when the longtime composer of the Bomberman series got really into DnB/jungle and made a soundtrack of that

It’s sort of the other way round with June Chikuma! She was intro electronic music of various types from the start - the Bomberman Hero is closer to the period when she got further into afghan instruments.

But she started branching out with saturn bomberman a bit and just kept going with it. she pivoted fully into afghan music and does this stuff now. that’s her in the middle - you can hear that instrument (I think that’s a ney, but that’s persian so I might be confused about something) in saturn bomberman and bomberman hero:

exodus woah, i had no idea about her non-games stuff! i had only listened to her work from the bomberman series, but i really like the music on her bandcamp. she has such a broad range of compositions, it’s wild

Yeah, she’s extremely cool I think! Versatility is neat when the artist’s taste is simultaneously so specific.

It’s weird to remember KID used to be an action game developer. They got their name out there more for visual novels, but so many hard action NES games were developed by KID. Definitely a (contemporary to the era) club vibe going with this soundtrack! Reading the wikipedia page, it’s weird to realize Famitsu gave this a 19/40. I don’t think they’d do the same today!

And looking up the game itself again I don’t hear any of those samples playing. hmmmmm.

Also, I’ve been playing Xeno Crisis a lot lately. Great music in there that really fits with the vibe of the game, especially on the genesis.

I would say this song does fake guitars better than most other genesis games, which is a big statement considering that’s one of the main things the chip did well.
