dylanfills hmm, I’d say I just liked the core mechanic, but that doesn’t say much.
At first I was unsure about it. The controls would obviously be better with a mouse, and since I was playing on a controller I got that cramped up feeling that I tend to get playing an fps on a controller, if you know what I mean.
After a few levels it felt like it really opened up. So it could be the levels that teach the basic mechanic present sort of a barrier.
I suppose what I like about it are the elegant curves and pronounced sense of acceleration that the movement mechanic offers, and the sense it gives me that I can work my way out of anything but I have to act within a small window of time and within tight tolerance of precision. Not so small a window and so tight a tolerance that it’s hopeless, but enough so that when you hit it right it feels like a victory.
It all clicked when I got to the food world, iirc specifically the one that starts you out getting launched very high into the air with a bunch of meatballs.
Edit:
I just looked it up: my recollection is way off. The level I was talking about is #50.
