Monster Hunter: World is the least expected place where the theme (trope?) popped up, from my experience.
From the Great Girros / ドスギルオス armor set. It’s even weirder when you consider the beast is not a bird at all. Why isn’t there a giant crow monster in Monster Hunter yet, by the way? Did I somehow forget one such fiend? Those damned birds are taking over Japan in real life already.
