Danimal Shhhhh… Snitches get stitches. They are remakes so I say they count together as a different game from the Game Gear titles. I am still fuming that I was forced to consider all three episodes of Shining Force III as a single entry.

chazumaru ok that’s alright but if we start to include collections, then I would vote for Halo Master Chief Collection instead of having to pick just one of those (devils advocate here- I’m actually against this). There are lots of games that are “collections” games that would ruin the point of something like this, and would end up turning it into a best game franchises list instead of a best games list. We can let this one go, but I think for the future they shouldn’t be included (maybe specific ports within collections if they are unique like the Dracula X Chronicles version of Rondo Of Blood for PSP, but a vote for that wouldn’t also be a vote for SOTN even though it’s included in Chronicles).

I don’t know much about Shining Force III, but I think if it’s episodic, then it’s fair to pool the votes together. There are other episodic games that we would pool together as one title like the Telltales Walking Dead games (not sure if that analogy is fair in the case of SF3, but I’m sure you get the point).

Anyway! Not to take the voting thing too seriously here. But on another note: a sort of ranking of video game franchises would be an interesting (if not almost impossible) endeavor to take on. Maybe something like that would make more sense in the form of a giant tournament bracket, because a free-for-all list would just be too complicated and messy. I’m used to IC discussions around single games and their merits, but I’d be curious to hear them debate the greater franchises. Kind of like discussing greatest albums versus songs.

God Hand, Out Run, and Katamari being so high warms my heart. Those are three games I instantly think of having unique and incredible “game feel”. I think this really is a remarkable list. Especially the “only one vote” honorable mentions, which shows just how far from being a hivemind these forums truly are.

Creekgrin I think each of those games have a really got shot if making someone’s list if they’ve played them and listen to ICP. Which is not a dig at all, I love all of them (except Outrun because I’ve never played it and make no attempts to be performatively informed). Admittedly I’ve played probably less than ten hours of God Hand and Katamari Damacy combined, but I love them and understood why within moments

fridgeboy I do love this idea, except that I’ve essentially been trying to follow that for Tim’s various goty/gotd lists and, as a result have about 2 dozen games that I’ve hardly toyed with sitting in my various libraries either unplayed or hardly touched that I know I will enjoy thoroughly. Granted, I am a huge fan of possessing a big library to just scroll through (even though the switch ui kind of stresses me out with it’s insistence on everything just being THERE, hope they allow at least some semblance of organization going forward to combat the ironically cluttered feel of their deliberately minimalistic interface…)

I’ve never really played Earthbound before. I started it, a long time ago, but did not get very far before getting distracted by something else most likely. Time to dive in!
