A thread for musicians

I love that lick at 0:56!

I am still new to making music, but I recorded this in one take. I added a few layers to it, though, like the trilling nylon string of my ukulele. I am proud of it.

You can listen to it wherever, but for convenience I will post it here.

I like your stripped down standing drum set situation! Much more conducive to dancing and probably makes touring easier.

One thing I wish I could have done differently for my first couple gigs: yes be practiced and prepared, but don’t bend your every waking thought on the show leading up to it. (easier said than done, I know) Thinking about it all day every day made me more nervous ultimately. Now when I play shows, I almost forget they’re coming up and then I show up on the day, do my stretches, and let it happen. I hope you get to play more gigs because it only gets easier the more you do it. Have fun!

It’s Bandcamp Friday today, share your bandcamp artist page (or just any bandcamp you’d like to shout-out)!

this is mine

this one is from a friend of mine: experimental idm/techno album from the DR, heavy Susumu Yokota influences on this one (I know there are some fans on here)

Woah your shit is tight. Such layered and interesting soundscapes, super colorful but never clashing. Smooth but still tactile. Always down to hang with some ambient stuff this rules

Love this album!! Those synths are so juicy, it’s a really fun + gorgeous contrast against the really acoustic elements. You’ve got a really great sense for layered vocals too, great harmonies and lovely tone. Really awesome thanks for sharing

Bip-Bop soundtrack goes hard. How on earth did you make that in 48 hours? Impressive. There’s others there that are made in like 2 or three days and they arrangements are very full and dynamic. Major props on being able to pull it off so nicely.

@humblepopstar

this one is lovely

Hey this went much better than I expected!

I did a 15 minute semi-improvised liveset and I was told I did pretty well. Successful night overall and the turnout for a pretty DIY event was actually much better than expected, at its peak it was about 50-60 people. More people than I’ve ever played in front. A nerve-racking experience overall but once it was over I wanted to do it again immediately after lol.

Aside from my own set I was very proud of everyone else who performed, its nice to be in community with people who are trying to build each other up.
