i’d pop into this, though very selectively. i can, however, offer to obtain and house just about anything out there along with giving access to my fairly large digital reference library (books, mags, sites, scholarly, etc.).

i used to hold reference hours for folks doing film research so, at the very least, i could gather up everything i can find to make packets on whatever movie. here is an example of one on legacy film distribution but they can range from “then-contemporary critical reception of Slaves (1969)” to “is David Ayer a reactionary chud?”.

just dm me or find me on the discord and we can figure out how to get this digestible. i’d love for this resource to actually get some use

well, it’s time for the clubs second movie! this time, i’ve tried to pick a movie rather tonally distinct from night on the galactic railroad; that movie is:

Serenity

(imdb, letterboxd)

this movie was nominated by connrrr. she’s never seen it before, but does know the twist in it… maybe we’ll be able to figure it out before it happens!

like last week, i’ll try to get the discord stream going at ~9:00 pm tonight, though as i might not be able to, anyone is free to stream it in my place (this link might be useful…).
as will always be true, anyone is free to watch it on their own time as well!

Pure kino. I urge everyone to watch it without looking up anything beforehand. You’ll have a hell of a time.

lunarchivist put together a wonderful packet with some resources about serenity, as well as some articles about plot twists in movies! you can check it out on google drive here.

this club’s third movie is…

The Incredible Mr. Limpet

(imdb, letterboxd)

this movie was suggested by Gemstonez, who has this to say about it:
“I’ve never seen this old movie where Don Knotts turns into a fish, but it looks awesome. It was one of the full movies uploaded recently to YouTube by Warner Bros (boo, hiss! Horrible company!) and it is a favorite movie of this year’s Oscar host Conan O’Brien.”

the discord stream for this movie will start at about 9:00 pm est tonight, but unlike other nights, everyone will be welcome to unmute their mic (or keep it muted, if they want)! i’m still trying to figure out how frequently these unmuted streams will happen, so if anyone has any input on that, do share (though maybe in the discord, so as to not clog this thread)!

We decided to do a bingo board before the movie and had beautiful results. Amazing experience.

We also reflected on what we learned. (some uhhh… nsfw words in there so blurred)
