Arcade Art

Hey all,

Video games used to be a lot BIGGER and featured some pretty prominent real estate for graphic design and illustration on their cabinets. What are some of your favorites, least favorites, most memorable, weird, scary, etc. ?

I'll start with this terrifying rendering of Santa who is thankfully only seconds away from being blasted by a cab.

I like when the art is kind of bad AND the machine looks weird, so here's the original street fighter with its punch pads and extra long left-armed ryu-ish guy.

The backglass on that one is great. They changed Marilyn's hair colour later in a reverse Raw Danger move.

@“hellomrkearns”#p71235 Yea, it‘s definitely one of my favorite pinball games. I like that it’s not based off of an existing property (minus the single Pin Bot reference, random celebrity and political figure). That driver on the back panel gets scarier the longer you look at him — Looking directly into that eye in the rear view mirror for too long will make you feel things you didn't ask for.

Some more details I like. This Asteroids panel makes me feel like I'm in a Kubrick film.

Love the type treatment and stylized jail guy on Breakout.
