You’re going to Ely, Minnesota tomorrow
What prompted this question?
Well, Ginger is a root… and Ale is a beer… Therefore Ginger Ale should logically be a root beer, right?
I’m also thinking about growing sassafras roots so I can brew my own root beer and make own cajun filé spices with it but I think it might be illegal since it’s also used for MDMA and carcinogenic.
When you explain it that way (which never would have crossed my mind) it seems so obvious! Ginger ale is root beer.
Ginger beer is just pretentious ginger ale
What’s up with the r-word coming back? I thought we stamped that one out. Is it specifically because it offends old millennials like me?
Ugh, don’t like that at all. Online or irl?
Both. Mostly online (from seemingly all over the political spectrum), but I have heard it in-person as well. I work around people roughly 18 years old and I’ve definitely heard it thrown around in some casual conversation.
That is unfortunate. I have not really noticed this myself outside of all the stock market people online who seem to say it every other word.
This is a forum of greater and lesser weirdos, do you people also go for the dumbest laptops? I’m still using a surface book 3 largely as I’m attracted to how silly it is and that it transforms into a terrible tablet to use for drawing references. I’m sad but unsurprised that they discontinued them. I’m toying with the idea of buying a refurbished one before they disappear.
I go for an inexpensive laptop that does the things I want (basically writing stuff and some retro/potato gaming). My last laptop was a 360 degree rotating one that I could touchscreen or type with. That was cool.
For years and years I was a die-hard ThinkPad user because I thought (still think) the mouse nub is the best way to control a mouse on a laptop. Unfortunately, the quality of Lenovo products in general went down over the years, and I now use a boring Dell XPS.
I think the Rogan-sphere of comedians are trying to bring it back
yeah! I have the IBM model M with the trackpoint nub. It’s inferior to the contemporary ones by a long shot but I don’t want to take my hands off the keyboard to navigate the curser.
I’m not entirely sure what this means but it doesn’t sound good.
Yes, exactly!
The large group of mostly mediocre comedians that hover around Joe Rogan.
I get a lot of their stuff in my algorithm because I’m an MMA fan and they use it like 8th graders in 1998.
Edit: with that said: does anyone here really struggle with with image or fandom that surrounds something you enjoy? How do you deal with that?
Theres a reason insert credit is the only podcast about games that i listen to.
usually I try to ignore it, then when that doesn’t work I just lose interest and move on
I don’t know if its a struggle but I don’t really interact with most fandoms related to games, comics, anime, movies etc. I feel like Frank Cifaldi in a room trying to learn about cereal and seeing people scream about funkopops. The interest in cereal is I guess coincidental between these people.
I spose I do look at a few things. For instance I read One Piece as it comes out and I might pop on to the One Piece subreddit and look at that chapter’s post after I read it to see what people are talking about. But I largely stay away from there because most of the week it could be spoiler territory.
