Friends! I am starting a new charity bundle to support victims of the fire in southern california. We’ll be supporting the california fire foundation this time. They give direct financial relief to victims of the fire, they support the families of firefighters who die on the job, and they give grants for community rebuilding projects.
What I need help with is:
vetting games as they come in to the bundle. Those who have done this before know that I’ll be trying to make sure the games are paid (and have always been paid, not free) and don’t have “adult” content to the best of our understanding.
making and maintaining a spreadsheet of these games for everyone to work on
I am going to put the call for games up today, so I’ll be looking for volunteers ASAP, through to next sunday (the 19th), with the intention to launch the bundle on monday the 20th.
If you’re interested in helping pleas let me know! It’ll definitely be a bit of a time commitment but we can spread it around to make it easier. I don’t imagine it’ll be as big as the ukraine bundle (770 items!) so hopefully we’ll all retain our sanity.
Any questions or thoughts, leave them here as well!
I don’t know if I can help from the software angle, but as someone on the ground, associated with nonprofits, and a member of the community being served here, I can signal boost and whatever else. (though thinking about this, it could be the motivation I need to make a low effort GB studio game or something for the first time. couldn’t imagine a more pragmatic exercise.)
@exodus Thanks for your efforts once again. Why not wait 24 more hours and launch the bundle on Tuesday? Won’t more (and bigger) studios be able to join if they have a chance to consider the proposal on Monday during office hours? This will also give media the chance to relay the campaign on Monday and then the launch on Tuesday.
I am either stupid or secretly a time traveler.
There’s a whole week before the 20th, maybe you thought I meant tomorrow?
As for how we determine what games have been free previously, I forget how we did it but there’s a way to see a game’s price history. I’ll dig into that before I contact everyone (which I’ll do tonight)
