Credit Report

credits can be exchanged for toys in the lobby and those toys can be sold for cash at another store next to the lobby

I’ll clarify this: spending a credit on a question does not add one minute, but removes the time limit altogether. We move on when the conversation is finished, whenever that is.

sorry I didn’t proofread and cross reference! but the variability in credit “value” is confusing ! let panelists extend for free! (maybe limit to 3 per episode and each extension will detract from their episode standing)

The only thing I love more than hearing whatever buzzer is picked for a week is when panelists ask what the question was 5 minutes in. The fast pace is great and the lowkey vibes are nice.

This is a stellar idea though, like a 1 credit, “hey can we talk about this news article” top off

Maybe this is my nerdy homework loving demeanor and the panelists don’t want this but maybe they could spend a credit at the end of an episode/off mic to look at a question for next week so they can do a little research and find a fulfilling answer if they so please? Would love to hear everyone give more scripted informational pieces alongside the regular silly game show antics and a lot of questions are cut short with people saying “great question but I’m blanking right now.” Maybe let them pick a previous question they are enthusiastic about returning to?

Give Alex Jaffe the authority to use others credits on their behalf. Anytime Jaffe asks “would you like to spend a credit”, it’s actually code for “I just spent one of your credits, now get talking or you’ve wasted it”.

Not trying to be a weirdo here but I don’t see how spending a credit to discuss a topic is materially different from spending a credit to ask a question? It might be semantics but pose a topic and ask a question are basically the same thing as far as I’m concerned.

In general it’s probably better to have the rules be as simple as possible, otherwise it’s gonna be impossible to keep track of.

wasn’t esper (and maybe someone else) put in host jail? maybe they could get bailed out using credits.

There isn’t always a “how about that news” question every week and I was reading this suggestion as, “can we get talk about general current events?” but that isn’t really different from asking a question is it
1 credit = 6(ish) minute directed conversation on topic (eg. what is everyone playing, news today, specific question) should be the baseline gold standard for credit value

Technically, but that was Jaffe banning them from hosting unless Ash spent credits, which she accurately called the bluff on because it was to Jaffe’s detriment to ban Esper from hosting lol. It was a good bit.

allow credit debt then introduce some insert credit version of the IMF and/or belt and road initiative

If everyone hits X amount of credits (say 6 or 8 when they’d earn an episode spend) an improv zone is triggered with instant effect.

oh man, now that’s an incentive right there.

It really isn’t that different, but Jaffe didn’t list “asking a question” at the top of the post. If someone can already spend a credit to ask a question, then that’s good and was just unknown.

That’s true, he didn’t! what a boner. rectify this @Jaffe!

What about a gacha mechanic where spending a credit stops the show so slot machine noises and flashing lights play and the panelists unlock an anime girl of various rarity

Or idle/clicker game mechanics where they can invest 5 credits into a farm that creates a ‘super credit’ every 5 episodes, and then 5 ‘super credits’ can be spent on a factory that creates an ‘ultra credit’ every 5 episodes, and so on.

Or since the podcast is a rogue-like of sorts, you could have permanent upgrades. For example if Frank spends a credit on +1 to DEF, he doesn’t have to defend his opinions as strongly on any subsequent episode

Jaffe I solved it. You pick a secret word for each episode and whoever says it first loses a credit

I personally think the rules should be really complicated so that any discussion of the credit system sounds like a JRPG upgrade tree. I think that would be nice.

Rules I would implement:

if you win 2 episodes in a row you get to steal 2 credits from each of the other panellists.

7 credits to make the other panelists do an improv round you devise (you don’t have to participate).

all credits spent go into the Credit Vault, when that reaches an arbitrary mystery number, the person who spent those last credits gets a Credit Bonanza (the credits they spent + 10 extra credits).

there is also a secret cursed number, if that number is hit exactly with the credits spent, everyone loses their credits (Credit Crisis).

for 12 credits you can have your own Panellist Buzzer that you can trigger at any time. for 15 credits you can choose the sound. you can have it across several episodes but you can only use it 5 times, then it runs out.

if someone doesn’t have enough credits, they can negotiate with other panellists to pool their credits together for a common cause, but once the credits are transferred, they can choose to do something else entirely with them.

if you spend 40 credits, you can create a Credit Monster. this creature takes 3-8 weeks to take shape, but when it does appear it steals everyone else’s credits and gives them to its creator.

when there are guests, as well as choosing a question for next week, they also get to give someone a credit (they don’t find out until the next episode).

Review a thing (8 credits) - it should be more expensive than the game play, because this is a video game podcast, but if Brandon wants to make everyone watch a film, or if Ash has a specific book she wants everyone to read, there could be an option to do that.

Insert credit could have its own A-life and we spend credits, he rolls the dice and our A-life gain attributes. Then they fight on violence island and die :(
