I know it’s been said that “every European City” is silly, but he felt the need to separately include Constantinople? Is this him dog whistling that Istanbul is either not good art or no longer right wing? Is Austin trying to say that because Turkey is a secular state with Islam being the most common religion it’s woke now?

The word “conservative” is spoiled and maybe needs to have superscript or notation on it at all times. For example “conservative25 values are trash” would mean that I’m referring to conservative values in the year 2025. Saying “He’s very conservative†” means that he loves mother nature and likes to conserve our natural resources. What do you think?

My experience has been that Calgary is home to corporations and some oil patch exec creeps, but overall it’s extremely left, and only reads as rightward at all because it’s 1) in Alberta and 2) it’s more businessy than Edmonton. But I’m not in Calgary on the regular, so it might just be me. You could just as easily view Edmonton as being rightward because of all of the super affluent pro hockey players who live here.
I think in a bunch of ways conservatives in Alberta are only holding on to power by a thread constructed of tax panic and ratfuckery.
