What’s the reason for thinking it’s Elon Musk? The poster mentions “the internet” is making the claim, but I don’t see anything in the post itself that explains the rationale.

I summarized everything using ChatGPT cause it’s HUGE. Again… this is Alleged!

(Emphasis mine.) This is almost certainly fake

To be taken with a grain of salt for sure. Speculation seems to come from leaked email and other info from 4chan being hacked.

I’m guessing the AI is used to parse through the leaked data to pull info from account(s) allegedly used by EM.

It’s also famous for hallucinating stuff, even when summarizing things. It’s utterly useless technology, and I wouldn’t trust a single iota of information from it, frankly

yeah, probably would be best to actually just parse the shit rather than use a llm to do it, but when all you have is a hammer and all that.

i really love shit like that. like, in context the only reason she’d even mention the language she would use is because she’s the world’s biggest visual basic fan, which is such a funny concept to me.

Probably won’t be much longer before the US tries to follow suit on this, too. What a time to be alive (derogatory)

If you pay in to Harry Potter you’re paying in to that, knock it off.

Sorry if this is off topic for the usual vibe of the forum

But apparently 4chan has been hacked by an offshoot image forum, like fully compromised, emails of mods leaked…

pretty crazy stuff

For Real though the hotel internet had blocked the site anyway but its still interesting!

It really needed to die. Some of the assertions being thrown around on bsky in the wake of this that anyone who ever used 4chan must have had a nazi phase are really annoying me because I discovered 4chan long enough ago to know that the nazis used to get shouted down on there, and why tf should we cede any space to nazis? But cede they did and I’m glad it’s gone, hopefully for good.

Yeah, that’s a shame. 4chan was never super good, at least looking back, but it was bad in a really different way than it became later. I kind of feel like being a 4chan user prepared me pretty well for the modern internet, where everyone is a liar, a grifter, and a bullshit artist.

And also, maybe a hot take, but a lot of 4chan’s early badness was just queer teenage otakus working through stuff.

100000%. /v/ was so obviously full of trans girls who couldn’t keep on topic to save their lives, they were so full of pent-up gender feelings (speaking from experience possibly).

I found this analysis very much worth the listen about what’s happening and why. Valuable, sobering perspective based in history and some logical reasoning.

There’s lots of discussion comparing the rise of Hitler to the rise of Trump but the important distinctions between the two, which I find helpful rather than just saying “Trump is Hitler 2” or whatever. It’s much more complex and nuanced. We can learn from history and use it to compare. But also recognize the conditions are different and the outcomes can still be changed.

Richard Wolff has been very influential on me over the last 5 years. In particular, his book Democracy at Work, really informed my thinking and led to me diving deep into Socialism.

His thinking is that the American Empire is in decline due to the rise of globalization and no American leaders have ever reckoned with that, and the working class continues to bear the brunt of the damage, and that has led to the situation we’re in now.

I listened to this following a much more urgent “this is an emergency, laws are meaningless now” video, and it helped ground me in the seriousness and a way to analyze all of this and at least prepare for different scenarios without totally freaking out (still freaking out tho).
