Embarrassing Corporate Song mixtape

@exodus#9071 Ah - this takes me back to the exact moment I became cynical as a teenager

@exodus#9071 This isn’t about games but it’s BURNING ME UP not posting it so I’m just going to. AOL packaged games with its discs sometimes so I’m going to just pretend that means it’s relevant.

Reminds me of that other Britney song about 90s internet-

@Gorblax#9076 yes! I thought exactly the same thing.

here's a thing. Get it On by Diffuser off Outlaw Volleyball Remixed (PS2).

completely riveted by the story. Love a happy ending!

I'm not sure if this fully counts … but it is definitely corporate. Even if the corporation denies it. Maybe as a bonus track?

I remember this!!! lorddddddddd

Here‘s one that I think fits the definition: I present to you “(Pin) Ballz”, a combination song/recruitment video for Insomniac Games. It’s got big late-2000s energy and the chorus explains how if you‘re hired, you’ll get to play with their pinball machines, but it looks like they at least had fun making it. It's certainly a different flavor of awkward compared to the rest of these, especially in 2020 when most people are much more aware of crunch. Enjoy!

It was later released on the user-submitted Rock Band Network as a playable song, which is how I became aware of it. At least the proceeds went to charity.

does jeremy parish singing west side story to a copy of mario galaxy belong here?

@yeso#9120 I'm going to say no because marioke is a whole different thing

fair enough, I'll just watch that video by myself again

I just don't wanna hear Jeremy sing, sorry Jeremy

@ttzop#9075 That Destiny song is almost as good as “Temporary Secretary”

@exodus#9153 yeah it would mostly be him scatting 10 minute long prog-rock instrumentals
(not gonna lie though, I can do this with Rush's 2112)

Fans love those video games so much they are making their own songs about them!

Something tells me if EA actually commissioned a song for Anthem it would be maybe 83% as good as this.

@hellomrkearns#9007 Here's some LARPing for the song at a concert

https://youtu.be/0hqkOkjr_kY?t=100

he has a perfectly lovely tenor, shame on you all

@copySave#9159 where are this poor man's friends and family? Why does noone stop him

Death Stranding had something like a mix tape with its release. it's all Sony artists writing songs about Death Stranding (to varying degrees of success).

edit: i don't necessarily think all the music on this is, itself, embarrassing, but i watched the making-of doc that came with DS about this, and it's extremely clear that this was some kind of thing the artists were probably contractually obligated to do or something.

Deep corporate Kitch? Camp? (I hate the word cringe) the rap breakdown is something if you can stick it out to 2:30

DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE 90S?

20 years ago, when grunge was born we opened our doors.
Spyro got us rolling. Building our tools. Dragons were cool.
Ratchet came along. Bitchin' guns. Man it was fun.
Resistance took us farther. A little bit darker.
By the way we killed Hale.
We killed Hale.
He's dead. Oh!

See the blood, the sweat, the tears.
We're making your games. We're making your games.
Fueled by Diet Coke and beer.
We're making your games. We're making your games.
Come on take a look inside.
We're making your games. We're making your games.
Join us on a crazy ride.
We're making our games. We're making our games.
For you!

Hold up, Ted. That's in the past.
I'm aghast at the vast accolades we've amassed.
But now is now. And we move fast.
Always go Ford - we built to last.
No filter pass, so we keep it raw.
Killin' it daily - dodge the law.
Sign NDAs for what you saw.
Future so fly it is KA-KAAAW!
Sunset Overdrive is on the rise.
It's a lot a bit crazy as the name implies.
Got style and madness only we devise.
Engagin' us more than the Enterprise
We beyond the skies. That's no surprise.
We got Outernauts - on phone device.
That's just the start of what we mobilize
A snippet of our goods like circumcise.
New intellectual properties.
That's one of our core philosophies.
Try to ask what they are we'll bob and weave.
Find out for yourself like Socrates.
Candelabra, please! Let's light the fire.
Benefits for a King - screw the squire.
Medical, dental, vision and retire.
Even LTD if the sitch is dire.
Got a studio in Durham - a new addition.
Still make great games, less smog emission.
On top of that - fully stocked kitchen.
Limitless muffins? That's straight bitchin'.
But now we switchin' back to the start.
Who we do it all for is the main part
Of who we are. Fans are the heart.
Plus mind and body. That's straight Descarte.
So, we goin' into Overdrive just for you.
We've made a few mistakes, but we're plowing through.
Cuz we grew up slew and now we brew what's new.
Don't sleep on us. Ted, that's your cue.

For you!

Just want to say that Eiffel 65 has taken over my youtube algorithm. THANKS SO MUCH!

Not embarrassing, but possibly corporate? An unreleased (?) song called My Atari.
