@“JJSignal”#p90678 got it!
there's a “closeness” to the sound design which is where I assumed the coziness came from… since I could only get 15 mins in myself, ha ha.

Everyone on the planet should be on the same timezone is my controversial opinion.
“I woke up at 4pm today!”
“Damn, why so early?”

you could put the game down after disc 1 and come back to it tomorrow or go whole hog and bite into the second disc to take a peek at whats to come
having a game in multiple discs is really cool to me but also would definitely get annoying
too bad about the gameplay though
i mean, its a fun enough game on its own merit but having it be aligned with super meat boy just makes it feel weird
it takes away the precise movement you had in the first amazing game and instead makes you try to do these precise movements in an autorunner fashion
and theres also an attack button?
its a strange game
the end is nigh is more of a spiritual sequel to super meat boy that i love though
its also a very straightforward way to make it clear to the player that this choice had consequences
i guess another cool way to do it is to have it be so subtle, so that on another playthrough of the game after you got another ending, youre able to see the dialog under a much different light
the game im thinking about right now is arcanum: of steamworks and magick obscura, which i only heard about recently from a video made by mandaloregaming
i really wanna play more video games but life is tooooo stressful
you try to get a flush but the river lets you down! and then you fold out of the hand, total flopsville
(the real answer is that i need to play more disco elysium and not be afraid to make horrible choices, but my brain wants to somehow redeem harry to be a competent cop again)
(although i guess there is no such thing as a competent cop is there)
it feels like a fundamental thing for games to have, being able to win
one could say arcade games have unwinnable scenarios in a way
endless runners like canabalt
games like super crate box, nuclear throne
games that will let you play forever until it overwhelms you, its a fundamental part of those games that challenges you to go further than last time
even though there isnt a win state, the score serves as a makeshift win state for the player so that getting a higher score than last time can be considered a success
bethesda, activision/blizzard, id, double fine, so much stuff
i havent listened to the episode yet but i wanted to answer the questions again because its fun :3

@“CrushingPride”#p90627 Hey. Signed up to the forum to suggest that the answer to the Doki Doki Panic question could be that the Power Rangers series are made from edited together Japanese Super Sentai shows.
My favorite example adjacent to this is that the kaiju film Frankenstein vs Baragon was so popular in Germany that every subsequent kaiju film by Toho over there was retitled to include Frankenstein's name, and there was some throwaway expository dialogue dubbed in to explain that whatever monsters in the film were created by Dr Frankenstein
My initial thought when I heard this question was films that were original screenplays that were rewritten to be sequels in an established franchise, which was the case for every sequel to Die Hard with the exception of the most recent one
@“edward”#p90691 I would theoretically be okay with this if handled well
A little sad my question from the “too stupid” dirt bag didn't get picked.
@“GigaSlime”#p90710 oh man, that's a good one. I had heard about this but forgotten it, what a delightful memory to return!!!
the beginning of The Silver Case is that weird fucked up swat team raid with the psycho vampire ghost right? The game has its doldrums but the opening was sick
@“DavidNoo”#p90718 I don't remember seeing you post one
Silent Hill Origins is pretty alright actually.
Silent Hill Downpour is pretty legit actually. I really enjoyed it.
Homecoming on the other hand is a whole different story. Homecoming is really not good.
My main reason for attributing to this thread though, is that my favorite examples of foreshadowing in video games is when you see a boss or shadow of the boss or something a while before you fight it. The first example I can think of right now is when you have to fight Nightmare in Metroid Fusion. You hear about what Nightmare is and you know you'll have to fight it, then you see it flying around in the background or foreground a few rooms before you fight it.
Also, of course the survival horror way of doing it too. Here's a file left on a desk describing some monstrosity and how it's weak to flamethrowers, and how luckily there's one in the maintenance shed, lol.
How big-of-head a Big Head today hobbles towards horror?
ok ive been listening to this episode right now but i havent been “listening” listening to it because i just got this 3ds and am downloading all the video games on it
for the SMB2 = doki doki panic of non video games, what about Frankenstein is the name of the doctor - that one might have the most history behind it
@“exodus”#p90660 Thanks so much for playing the game, glad you enjoyed it!
No jumping in the next game but the movement sure does seem to be the main point of contention with people so that sure will be something to look forward on release!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
@“Jaffe”#p90725 that's okay, it was too stupid.
“Robotech is really Macross and two other shows” seems pretty close to Doki Doki Panic in how common the knowledge is now to people of a generation and how commonly it still gets repeated
In America we have Mariah Carey's “All I Want For Christmas Is You” that signals the end of Halloween.
In Japan, they have "Wonderful Christmastime".
@“Chopemon”#p90797 Happy to play an early build and give you The Business re: movement if you want!
i‘ve had this open in a tab since friday and haven’t figured out what to do with it so here you all go:

@“esper”#p90880 I don't need to click play when the thumbnail spoils the whole game. Obviously, the creepy doll is the “orphan” in the title of the game.
