    {“sticky”:true}

frank do you use frozen butter to make your omelets? A good tip if you haven't tried it FYI (dice into small 1/4" cubes and freeze overnight)

I think the Xmen Wolverine Origins video game is much better than the movie. I'll argue that I like Batman on NES more than Batman the movie. Still my favorite Batman game by a long shot.

The best Stickshift in games that I've played is Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune. It feels great and has a 6 speed with the actual notches instead of just the up shift and down shift like Initial D.

Speaking of initial D. What a great show, I get people that don't like Anime and don't like cars into that show. It's just so entertaining even if you don't like the subject matter.

So was the spicy udon soup too spicy?

@“RubySunrise”#p94738 only for azure! Also if this is a Sega arcade joke you gotta say 2 spicy

Jaffe’s “Grimes and punishment” didn’t get the response it deserved imo!

BreadyToDie asks: Have you ever played the sequel of a game before playing the original?

I played Lightning Returns before FF13 and 13-2, but I wasn't completely lost in the story. I just wanted to play cool battle dress up with Lightning with a cool fighting system. My first entry into the Yakuza games was with 4, which I think was a good choice since you start off with a totally new character anyway.

_Ross Hamrick asks: Which arcade racing game has the best manual transmission?_
Daytona USA 100%, specifically the sit down arcade booth. It has a rock solid metal gear shift that feels extremely good to _aggressively_ knock around to drift. It's simple and incredibly satisfying to use. If it's incredibly simple but it makes me feel like a genius, then it's doing something good.

@“veck”#p94744 definitely didn't hear that one! A lot of those jokes go underneath our dialog

@"JJSignal"#p94748 yeah, Necrosoft games' Brent Porter says the same re: shifting, I should've remembered that!

@“esper”#p94691 Ripley Rose proposes an Improv Zone – Sonic’s Dad Got Arrested (38:19)

    best one yet. holy.

WOAH HEY THAT’S MY NAME IN THAT THERE IMPROV ZONE

PS1 emulation talked about without mentioning Duckstation :eye::eye: sleeper agent (me) activated (recommending Duckstation for PS1 emulation)

    >

    @“esper”#p94691 Nutritional yeast

    NOOCH
    [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/lVWwNR8.png]

@“hellomrkearns”#p94795 I will never not call it nut yeast

    >

@“Karnovski”#p94722 I’ll argue that I like Batman on NES more than Batman the movie

Some people say Neal Hefti wrote the best Batman theme. Some say Tim Burton, or Shirley Walker. People who love to be wrong say Hans Zimmer. But they’re all equally incorrect. It’s Nobuyuki Hara.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MlGDKfgz4fA

Still a shame that Metroid Prime multiplayer disappeared after Hunters, it wouldn‘t have been too difficult to improve Prime 2’s for 3 either (since 2‘s was so janky, but still pretty fun) - maybe that’s why 4 is taking so long, they're gonna add an actual worthwhile PvP aspect to it lol

And as for rhythm games with story elements, it's too bad the Ouendan games sold so poorly, cause it'd be great to have a Switch version

@“Kite006”#p94842 I had a really fun night back in the day messing with mp2‘s multi-player. We went from that to Geist’s multi-player. Not the greatest in either respect, but pretty dang fun for a night or two.

Also, I still hope for an Elite Beat Agents 2 or re release or something. Give us Ouendan Collection and throw EBA in there.

Max asks: What is the most fun or interesting scoring mechanic in a shooting game? (10:59)

Grazing was a pretty fun mechanic: easy to understand, hard to master, thrilling risk/reward balance etc. Psyvariar is usually the poster child for this system (and invented the term 'grazing' if I recall correctly) but I believe **Raiden Fighters** did it first.

    >

Malcove asks: How would you reintroduce vampires to modern video games? (14:44)

[SEGA AGES MASTER OF DARKNESS](http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/vampire-master-of-darkness/amp/) would be a good start!

    >

BreadyToDie asks: Have you ever played the sequel of a game before playing the original? (22:53)

As a rebellious punk teen who wouldn’t play by the rules, I stubbornly decided to play that game called **Street Fighter II** even though I had never played or even heard of the first one. That’s just me, though.

    >

Pannekoeken asks: What happened to rhythm games? (26:32)

In general, I think rhythm games went too hardcore. Rhythm games started as one of the most accessible genres, mechanically and thematically. Now it’s a popular but pretty entranched niche. But we still sometimes get a few breakout successes like **Trombone Champ** that return to the roots of what made these games popular among the masses.

Dilson asks: Which cooking games aren’t boring? (33:56)

Wait… Which cooking games _are_ boring!?

    >

Gaagaagiins asks: When has a video game adaptation been objectively better than the source material? (43:33)

Despite all its flaws, **FIFA** is objectively less worse and hurtful to mankind than the actual FIFA.

    >

Anonymous asks: What singleplayer game should have gotten a competitive multiplayer mode? (48:49)

Well, empirically, we can prove the answer is **Bomberman** on the NES.

    >

Ross Hamrick asks: Which arcade racing game has the best manual transmission? (52:01)

The 4→2→4 shift allowing for instant drifting in **Daytona USA** remains unmatched in both systemic fun, physical thrill (that indestructible gearbox is apex cabinet design) and absurdist arcadey logic.

    >

Kiko B asks: Which two video game franchises would be improved by swapping protagonists? (01:04:28)

God of War ←→ Professor Layton

    >

Terrace asks: What was the Secret of Evermore?(01:06:52)

    [Terrible remote management.](https://web.archive.org/web/20150602200240/http:/tay.kinja.com/the-story-behind-the-only-square-rpg-developed-in-north-1640340675)

    @“Jaffe”#p94836 wrong version though https://youtu.be/-KtYL1D4xtM

@"chazumaru"#p94846 you're totally right about rhythm games! Especially as they mostly exist in arcades now. And some of the attempts to recasualize them were super bad (major minor, etc). Hmmm sounds like an opportunity for someone other than me!

    >

@“esper”#p94691 Gaagaagiins asks: When has a video game adaptation been objectively better than the source material? (43:33)

Shouts out to Alex @"Jaffe"#205, @"esper"#11 , and @"chazumaru"#p94846 for giving the _objectively_ best answers to my question. Shouts out to @"exodus"#3 for immediately blurting out what I'm _pretty_ sure was the joke answer that made me reverse engineer the question in the first place. Shouts out to Tim for holding back _Moby-Dick 2; or, The Whale 2_ from the world which is not yet ready to receive it. Shouts out to _Frank Cifaldi: The Official Panelist of the Podcast_

@“chazumaru”#p94846 Despite all its flaws, FIFA is objectively less worse and hurtful to mankind than the actual FIFA.

This is a particularly thoughtful if gutwrenching answer, especially considering, like, how horrifying those fucking games actually are
