Sometimes I think about how many people must know pog as a verb but not as a noun.

To @exodus suggestion in the fireworks alternatives convo:

The Darkstalkers series has a few stages with a dancing reward dog when you finish a match. They even do a little celebratory bark song for you.

Fun episode so far! Though my inner geography nerd feels compelled to point out that the eastern-most point of Nevada is not actually west of the eastern-most point of California. Nevada does in fact extend more to the east than California does.

Nevada’s eastern-most point is located at 41.72, -114.04 (41°43′07″N, 114°02′23″W), while California’s eastern-most point is at 34.26, -114.13 (34°15’45.8"N 114°07’52.4"W). Since -114.04 is closer to 0 than -114.13 is, it’s more easterly.

Anyway, all this means is that Nevada extends approximately 5.2mi (8.4km) east of California. I apologize for the pedantry, but I just got excited about a new geography fun fact, so I went to double check it and found it was not true. It sure is closer than you might expect, though!

Sources: The Wikipedia page for “List of extreme points of U.S. states and territories”, which just lists Google Maps as a source for a lot of the points, so I double checked them in an ArcGIS map provided by NOAA, and the relevant info from Wikipedia/Google Maps seems basically correct ±200ft (±50m).

Bonus fun link: Here’s an Open Street Map with all the extreme points of the US states and territories pinned

Esper, I must insist that any future appearances by Simone on this show must credit her as Polygonzo

@Jaffe won this episode in my heart, with ‘congratulatio’ and his quick ‘vagina bones’ ditty.

But Jaffe’s reward for winning is picking someone else as winner. That way there’s at least one question he doesn’t have to write.

Great episode, great guest. Now it’s time to scroll through reels on instagram until Simone shows up again to tell me a fun fact about Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Jaffe you are correct that there was a World’s Fair in Chicago in 1933, however the event you otherwise astutely referred to was the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, which is the one where the built the beaux arts “White City” and had the serial killer and his murder castle going on

Deeply saddened to hear that pogging is not related in any way to playing with pogs.

Every time anyone said horror in the intro all I heard was “haw err”

Edit: I think the Rs are being said, it’s just an accent thing, and I think I just can’t hear them when other people can hear them. I think I probably drop the final R - “haw raa” - but who knows what they hear when someone from NZ say horror lol probably “hirrir”

NZ is a democracy and a govt department can and does ban video games outright, it suuuuucks but also when you look at the games (and any media) they have banned its like nothing of value was lost apart from 2 or 3 notable examples.

Also, they can only review a peice of media if someone asks them too and pays them like $200. Unfortunately, the govt can ask them too and pay the $200, usually it’s customs officials at the border asking and the media is magazines.

lol apparently Manhunt was only just classified as R18 in 2023 after years of being banned (Objectionable).

You’re right on that nothing of value was lost.
