Ep. 357 - Playing Nice, with Jason Schreier

Yeah, nowhere I grew up had those holidays off, so I had to miss school and do make-up work just so I could have a day off to fast and atone.

The Insert Credit Show has both the strictest and loosest formula. I love it.

Jason Schreier is a guest on this week’s Axe of the Blood God podcast. It’s a nice longform companion to today’s episode as he dives a little deeper on the same topics.

Has he popped up on any other podcasts or things as the book tour ramps up?

He was on Remap Radio a little bit ago:

If it was not made clear by others that @Jaffe and @esper did a good job on the show, I’d like to rectify that. Great episode. You should be proud of this one Alex.

With Brandon orchestrating a takeover of the 8-4 Play podcast, Jaffe had to bring in some Big Guns. I do think we need that “And I’m Frank Cifaldi” clip added to the end of every show, regardless of whether he’s actually in it. And if he is in the show, he can say who he is and the clip will follow right after for a repeat: “And I’m Frank Cifaldi. And I’m Frank Cifaldi.”

He kind of has a professional obligation… I’m not going to hold that against him.

My thought process: “Let me scroll up to see what Jaffe is saying ‘bonk meat’ to.”

The latest post by @Death_Strandicoot:

My thought process: “… is ‘bonk meat’ related to the high holy days?”

Then I remembered I could click to see what was threaded to what, and it made more sense.

You weren’t far off. “Bankh mit” is also a traditional high-holiday greeting among TurboJewfx.

This is not related to the episode but I was remembering Tim and @Jaffe commenting on the “gamer’s standard” of aiming for a dollars per hour rate of a round $1 for any given game. I was thinking about ways this could be a base for a lightning round question.

Using the game’s original MSRP and info from time-to-beat (either completion time or 100% time depending on setup), either:

  1. Guess a given game’s dollars-per-hour going rate (closest wins)
  2. Given x games and x rates, match game to rate (could be equal number matching or just making a single “Which of these is $2/hour” multiple choice)
  3. Rank games in order of dollar to hour order
  4. etc

@Jaffe I’m tagging you twice because the idea seemed nice! No commission required.

This is a great idea. Is there a resource that provides information about the original msrp of older games?

For newer stuff I know we have things like isthereanydeal.com and dekudeals.com

Does VGHF have scans of Toys R Us and Electronics Boutique catalogs?

Spent time finding this screenshot and forgot I intended to post it in this thread:
