It was, up until the last few weeks of last year, my GOTY. Was surprised to get through two games that left more of a mark on me, but Indika is still stuck in my brain all these months later.

Phew, don’t know how I missed it but I’m glad everyone’s already on the trolly.

You must have stayed out of the GOTY thread. A lot of us played it, and I think all of us either loved it or at least had something interesting to take away from it. While it wasn’t my favorite game last year, it was definitely one of the most important (and miles better than that other game about a young woman on a spiritual journey who hears voices that had a 2 in it and fancy UE5 graphics).

I think the surreal visuals in the scene at the end of the dog chase set-piece in Indika have stuck with me the most.

give The Invincible a spin one of these days too if you like Indika

That bit is why I can’t play Indika again right now.

The barista robot in Zenless Zone Zero drives me nuts. They didn’t even find reference of how the portafilter is prepared. The robot drags his finger across it to even it out, but you need to overfill it and then press it down with a tamper so you end up with a compressed puck of ground coffee.

He also brags about how he grinds his beans by hand as if machine ground is bad? The idea I think they meant to convey is that he roasts his own beans because that could indicate quality or at least a unique taste, but hand grinding is like saying you boiled your water with a wood fire instead of an electric kettle. You might enjoy the ritual, but it’s not any better. Some people use hand grinders for that exact reason.

And yeah, dev is really really hard. On the other hand, look up how to make espresso on Youtube and you’ll be loaded with good reference in minutes. Obviously accuracy isn’t that important in art as long as it looks cool but these choices are bizarre.

This has been my Coffee Rant. Thank you for joining me.

Being one of the folks that likes falling asleep to IC, that buzzer needs to go back to whatever layer of hell it spawned from.

I laughed so hard when it first played at SICK FREAK volume.

Get the sleepy bunny mix for bedtime listening.

Are the panelists hearing these buzzers? I’d kind of like for them to hear it at least the first time during the intro so we can hear them laugh/react to these as well. @Jaffe any chance of that?

Oh, this is real? I assumed that was a joke.

It’s real for Patreon members.

We don’t! It’s added in post, I never hear the buzzer but considering how much hype this one is getting i’ma go back and listen to this ep to hear it

Was super cool to hear from Aaron this episode! I’m not familiar with his work, but I loved his insights.

Can’t believe you all didn’t tell me I was supposed to be exercising until the END of the show… what am I supposed to do while I do pushups now??

I don’t think it was intentional, but talking about morals in video games making you do things movies cannot in “days gone” when I got to the first part where I had to kill the small zombies that used to be kids I just quit the game. I A: cannot kill a child zombie and B: Think about the poor kid who turned into a zombie.

Not to mention he’s a machine.

Also I have never heard any of the new buzzers I’m sad to say, I was gonna ask esper for a super cut or something. I tried to listen to this buzzer since people were talking about it - is the joke that there’s no buzzer? I sure couldn’t hear one skipping around.

There isn’t a buzzer after evey question anymore, just when the talking runs long. If you want to hear it, check out Jaffe’s intro at the start. It always plays when he says “a horrible buzzer” before he introduces himself.
