Glancing in on the heavy-duty serenesforest.net-tier FE freaks there does seem to be a general consensus that Engage is mechanically the best game in the entire series, with disagreement on whether the aesthetics are A) hilarious or B) so cringeworthy they’re a dealbreaker.

A fire emblem content creator I enjoy came out with a new video on Engage about how it's improved the weapon triangle, which I agree pretty hard with.
In light of the discussion above it also made me re-watch a video he did about the Lunatic/Maddening modes in Fire Emblem -- (fast forward to 1:20 to skip past the uh... prologue)

One of the good points he brings up is how ever since Awakening, the Maddening modes have been balanced around selling DLC and... yeah... there's a lot of truth to that. I don't mind it since I like the extra maps but it is classic evil nintendo undermining their own game design to squeeze a bit more money.
I’ve turned the corner now and I think I love this stupid evil game. After struggling with two different maps for multiple entire days I stayed up all last night and cleared both of them, which makes me high champion and lord of war

It's funny how quickly nintendo is releasing this DLC. The game only came out like 2 months ago. Some pros: This clearly takes place LATE in the game, so I still have hope that these are challenge maps instead of just a "Side Story" like the 3H DLC. They also added a new twunk, and let you play as Zephia and Griss, which is cool in my book. I hope we can choose which characters we deploy in these DLC maps (and its not just the royals), since it seems we'll be fighting our allies.

ack! I updated it! I don‘t know if I really believe the rumors of a FE4 Remake. But I also wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo started making these games a yearly or every 2 year franchise again. Part of me thinks they will just remake FE1 for the 4th time lol, given how Marth was a mascot for Engage.
Last night I remarked in a Discord stream that “Mark,” the default name of the Fire Emblem 7 player avatar, didn‘t sound very much like a Fire Emblem name. Judgment maybe clouded by the fact that that’s my dad‘s name, or by the presence of FE7’s other character Marcus; in any case I was lying awake afterward last night thinking wait a minute, other FE characters have Biblical names, why does Mark stand out to me?
I don't have an answer, but just now I went and found out that not as many of the Twelve Apostles nor authors of the Gospels share their names with Fire Emblem characters as I'd expected. OK but actually never mind, typing this second sentence after thorough research, and ALL of them do share _some version of their name_ with a Fire Emblem character.

I decided to replay the critically acclaimed Fire Emblem [color=red]if[/color] : White Kingdom (aka Fates: Birthright), and I‘m having a lot of fun with it. As much as I dislike some parts of the game… it’s better than it gets credit for. I love the presentation, the music is one of the best in the series. I hope fire emblem tries a highly specific culture for theming their games around again.
One funny thing about my game is most of my characters are getting terrible growths! I've done some DLC maps to counterbalance it. Interestingly Sakura of all people has been inexplicably killing it for me. At Chapter 12, her BST rating is 106, a solid 20-40 points higher than everyone else (except for Hinoka at 98 but she joins with high base stats). Her strength is better than half my characters so I'm looking forward to promoting her to Priestess at level 20 and just letting her run wild with a yumi. Since the guys who are normally really good like Silas and Saizo are suffering, it's allowed me to reach deeper into my pool of characters and I kinda love using Subaki and Kagero instead. I also tried using Mozu... really I tried... but she is just not worth the effort even when everyone else is relatively weak.
I also came across this Famitsu preview that was translated. Aside from the very weird and very gross implication of advertising 'skinship with your little sister' (I mean culturally it is something different and platonic over there, but weird that its a selling point!). it's interesting how they focused on Sakura, who I think is pretty universally considered a lower-tier character. Cute justice! Cute power! Staff~ Staff~
