Having listened to 50 episodes of in depth analysis of Victory Gundam and the ideas of gender in Japan at the time this unfortunately makes sense to me. 80s/90s Japan had an idea that Woman, Mother, and Soldier (male) are all different kinds of gender identity that evolve overtime.
