another great set
the new ethel cain album is very good. even though talking about music isnāt my scene, i might have to write a few thoughts in the general music thread.
Been listening to a lot of Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debbie by the Bill Evans Trio (both of which come from the same run of concerts). These were the last performances with Scott LaFaro on bass, who died in a car crash at 25 (too young!!) He also wrote āGloriaās Stepā, one of my favourite tunes off the pair of albums.
Both of these albums are my go-tos when I wanna nap, very soothingāalthough I feel kind of guilty saying that since theyāre also definitely worthy of fully awake, 100% attention listening sessions. Anyone else having guilty-nap pleasures? (Albums you like to nap to, but feel guilty using them to sleep when theyāre so good to listen to?)
Sunday at the Village Vanguard is a no-skips for me because they kept in the audience sounds here and there, great album to ambient my living room while Iām working!
Loop-Finding-Jazz-Records by Jan Jelinek is one of my favorite albums and Iāve definitely used it as a napping tool accidentally. I fell asleep a couple times while listening to it at the library.
Lastly Nala Sinephroās Space 1.8 is a phenomenal ambient jazz album one can fall asleep to but also listen to attentively.
Imo no reason to feel guilty doing so!
I love love those two albums.
My go to sleepy-time album is Geoticās Mend
Also used to fall asleep to Does it Look Like Iām Here? by Emeralds sometimesāthis one was probably less than ideal, as Iāve definitely been wrenched awake by the track āGeneticā more than once.
These are two of my absolute favorite albums, ever.
