@“Video Game King”#p90839 I think you can use NKit to turn those files into images. Not 100% sure, but NKit for gamecube and wii are still handy to have when you‘re modifying games to reduce their size. You can get them with their respective update partitions and recovery files from Vimm’s Lair (just google it).

Use the “+ Wii Partitions” one with Wii games and “+ GameCube Recovery Files” one with GCN games.
my suggestion would be to go with something like this
https://stoneagegamer.com/replacement-gears-for-nintendo-64-controller-fix-broken-analog-sticks.html
then lubricate it with this

(this tube of grease is a lifetime supply, you could do hundreds of controllers with it)

@“Chopemon”#p92455 Very cool. Never knew about this company. Too bad all the PSX cards are sold out.
@“Chopemon”#p92455 Really torn on getting one of these since Swiss does GCN virtual memory cards and Wii acts as a good dumper to USB for real cards. Still…
>!(I REALLY want a Dreamcast one)!<
@“tomjonjon”#p92458 I bought the PS1 version and in the time it took to arrive the PS1 Mister Core hit and I have never opened mine, so I am conflicted on the GC one
@“copySave”#p92523 I mostly just use an old Dream Explorer ISO when I need full unlock saves, I feel like PS2 is my main choke point for converting digital saves
@“robinhoodie”#p92545 if you have a ps2 with FMCB, it‘s real easy to transfer saves to USB.
check out the ps2 section on this if you haven’t.

@“hellomrkearns”#p92551 I think the bigger wall I hit is that a the PS2 saves I find online come in a variety of formats. Maybe there are better converters than the last time I check though. Ha ha! I never back up my saves, I most just want to cheat
@“robinhoodie”#p92552 That video does get into the format issue as well.
There's also a website I was previously unaware of that handles several other formats. (although not PS2 ones)

@“copySave”#p92523 I still put disks in hardware like a caveman so this is targeted directly at me.
I believe their plan is GC then PS2 then DC but I backed the VMU2 Indiegogo for my DC needs.
For some reason I can't get an Indiegogo link to display correctly so just give it a quick search if you're interested!
@“Syzygy”#p92597 I actually considered this at the time! It’s not that difficult a mod, and my then-living room had a ton of wireless interference so I couldn’t use my Wii U in the comfiest chair.
Made an alternative modification instead: moved the chair.
Apologies if this doesnt exactly fit this thread, as it is the lazy-mans request among a group of certified doers.
But I’m looking into buying a premodded playstation 2, the kind with a big hard drive installed.
Ive got a mac laptop. It serves me fine, except for when i try to do any sort of video game nonsense. it cant emulate ps2 games consistently, and modding systems on my own is doable but usually frustrating. (It doesn’t help that i’m also incredibly unsavvy).
After spending some time trying to figure out how to run ps2 games on a modded ps3, I listened to the halloween episode of insert credit. In it, tim mentions how some people dont get that you can just pay someone to hack a ps2 for you.
Hmm never thought about that before.
I could buy a ps2 and figure out how to do it myself, but I’ve decided it’s worth the money to me if it means i can play silent hill 2 on original hardware without the headache.
Does anyone here have any suggestions on a good place to purchase one of these? Im sure i could just find one on ebay or something but I thought you all might have the inside scoop on a good spot. Thanks in advance!
@“Updog”#p93255 For a cheap software mod you can do for free, easy answer is:
OR
If you have a raspberry pi you can easily turn it into a rom server for the slim or a phat with a network adapter:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVCFbJCPtO8
OR
[Make ](https://www.ps2-home.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1248)or buy a FreeMcBoot memory card and a use USB drive for games or slowly burn discs. This method is slow since the USB on the PS2 is 1.0 speed, or you would need a burner that goes slowly and pray the disc drive doesn't wear out. You can also use a network connection to store games as well on a NAS if you only have a slim, but if you just have a phat ps2 you might well use method 1 at that point (unless you prefer to store all your games on your network)
OR if you would rather keep it real simple and emulate:
Buy an Xbox Series S and run it in dev mode as posted by @"connierad"#398

Y‘all see that some folks made OG Xbox Live again? It’s wild!

@“copySave”#p93272 I wish I had any free time to play about with this. But once Outrun 2006 goes live I will drop everything.
@“Updog”#p93255 podcast guest Christa Lee might be the person to contact if you are in the US https://soundretro.co/
If you are in the UK, I bought a premodded PS2 from https://www.willsconsolemodifications.co.uk/
If a hard drive isn't a strict requirement, buying a FreeMcBoot memory card off eBay and burning disks will get you most of the way to running everything but I had some trouble with the FMVs being really choppy on the Disaster Report undub. The premodded console runs everything perfectly. I got a slim and run a mix of legit disks and burned disks on it.
The first option from CopySave seems like what you want but I don't know (because I haven't done it) if that bypasses region locking. Getting a premodded console will usually be region free.
@“Chopemon”#p93300 @“Updog”#947 Yeah I can play Japanese and European games over the HDD/Network adapter on my US softmodded PS2s. Played a translated Berserk, untranslated Garouden Breakblow, and a EU rip of The Sword of Etheria
@“copySave”#p93304 awesome, if I ever give up on buying games I'm going to do one of these then.
