Having a very normal morning on this very normal day.

My thoughts are with you, folks. The idea of losing my entire home is absolutely devastating, let alone the risk of lives being lost and all the uncertainty and helplessness. Absolutely horrifying scenario. Stay safe out there.

Hope everyone on here is doing okay and staying safe. Pretty stressed out for family members but they are all alive and healthy at least.

Like 1 in 5 people I know have lost their home now.

Somehow the main friend’s family who I know from the palisades home was miraculously untouched.

Just a quick update on my previous post:

It looks like a lot of progress has been made on the Eaton fire, so they’ve retracted some of the evacuation zones and we were able to go back home today.

It’s a huge moment of respite, but obviously these fires are nowhere near finished.

I hate when they blame homeless people for starting the fire. people did this, Arnold

This is the most likes on any post I’ve ever seen on here, and I know you’re right, so I’m gonna do it. It sucks that we’ve basically ceded an entire media platform to conspiracy theorists, right-wing nuts, and crypto bros. It’s too painful to do anymore

glad to see y’all are out of it too, do you guys have power? our entire building and seemingly a lot of los feliz is still out of electricity even if we aren’t in the evac zone anymore.

We do, fortunately.

My friend’s place in Burbank was without power and so was a good portion of Hollywood when we drove out on Wednesday. Do you have a place nearby where you can charge things?

I lived on Vermont and Hollywood (I think those were the streets) by whacko (I think that’s what it’s called) for a while in 2018 when I was first building my van and went into Los Feliz a lot. Partner at the time is from there. Used to work at starlight books owned by Bob odenkirk. Saw lots of cool people in that area like Bob and Rebecca sugar.

I don’t know why this didn’t register right away but I was just reminded of the opening credits sequence from Escape from L.A. with Cliff Robertson as a presidential candidate calling it the city of Sodom and Gomorrah and predicting the earthquake that turns it into an island prison. Maybe angelenos have to hear that talk from hicks all the time though, I dunno??
