Here we are again (again): the thread where we discuss the games we are playing in 2025

Trying to have two games on the list, are we?

I don’t see Nine Sols anywhere on that list, but in my mind it is absolutely on the secret menu.

i was told this was one of, if not the hardest fire emblem game next to fe6 and i’m starting to REALLY get what that means going from a lot of these maps lmaoooo

Very nice! If FE6 feels a little abrasive there are balance mods to make it more in line with the western releases of FE7 & FE8 (such as, the accuracy increase and weapon triangle doubles instead of triples). But it’s very fun either way!

I’ve been very busy the past few days so haven’t had much time in Night City to do anything, so this isn’t a real update update on CyberTom in Cyberpunk: A Night’s Tale. But very quickly I know I’m close to the end as I’ve reached the ā€œyou probably should go check out what you haven’t done yet before doing this missionā€ message so that gave it away. So I’ve been doing just that.

I’ll write a bit more when I have time, as there’s quite a lot to cover on some of the missions (two specifically) but in the meanwhile, here’s my V whistling:

Until next time, stay safe on the streets of Night City everyone!

TouchƩ

As it turns out, I did neither of these things, lol. I did start Stellaris, but I wasn’t really in the mood to create a civilization of my own. Instead, after noticing that I had Civilization V in my Steam library, I decided to install it based on some good word of mouth. Turns out that was the right choice (depending on your perspective, I suppose), since I lost my entire day to it!

This was much more of what I want out of Civilization than Civilization VI turned out to be, and it should serve as a decent thing to play in between bigger games like the four Fromsoft titles in my backlog at present. In theory, it should also be nice for bite-sized gaming sessions, but damn the whole ā€œone more turnā€ thing is way too real…

too scary!

After Citizen Sleeper 2, I wanted something less emotionally taxing. So I went back to my early save in the Onimusha remaster. I have never made it more than 30 minutes into this game without bouncing off. I’m a pretty big Capcom fan like a lot of people here, but this series has always been a blind spot.

I’m a couple hours in now and it’s just a good time. It’s got classic Resident Evil DNA all over it. I messed with the tank controls for a bit and decided I’m cool with never playing it that way. I love the creepy skeleton demon dude. The combat is basic, but I still find it satisfying to put down demons and absorb their souls. I recall hearing that this is a very short game, so I think I’ll be done with it soon. Would you guys recommend any of the sequels or spin offs?

After Onimusha, I think I’ll go back to the FFIV Pixel Remaster or chip away at Metaphor some more. I’m also working through Void Stranger slowly and sinking time into UFO 50 and State of Decay 2 still.

I’m trying not to buy any games this year, but FlyKnight and Tokyo Xtreme Racer are VERY tempting!

I’ve been thinking about replaying Path of Radiance on Deck. How has the duology aged?

I’m still working my way through Rebirth, but while Final Fantasy is the kind of game where you set aside a few hours, light some candles, and soak in it for the evening, I’ve also been playing Smite 2. This is more like ordering pizza, closing the curtains and hiding from God.

You might think, ā€œThis sounds like Overwatch 2.ā€ Or, ā€œEw, MOBAs.ā€ And you’d be right to think so. However, this game was in desperate need of an engine upgrade and they took the opportunity to make some small but very transformative design changes that overhaul most aspects. I’m not much of a try hard so I stick to the casual modes: Assault and arena. I always say, if you only have fun when you’re winning, you shouldn’t play a competitive game. I don’t mind losing, so I’ve been having a good time.

However Hirez did just lay a bunch of people off so that sucks.

Thanks to a very very very cheap offer on Steam and having a dedicated gaming PC, got Midnight Suns (the Legendary edition was 20€, it was so cheap). Love this game, it is extremely comic booky. I love the little persona-esque interactions, and the goofy dialogue. It is sad that this game was appreciated but never had a big success.

I loved Midnight Suns. It’s a strange example of a licensed game that I feel has so much love and passion in it. It obviously didn’t get the biggest budget, but it’s a fun spin on the X-COM formula with some superhero dating! Magik and Nico were my go-to’s but Blade has the best lines in the game. So cool to see more people enjoying it!

One aspect i like is that it is accessible if you don’t have decades of Marvel knowledge, because there is a lot to explore for every character and you can dig deep (or not) in corners that are a little obscure, but it is also so fun if you have knowledge to see ā€œoh, that was there that timeā€.

Oh my gosh I loved Midnight Suns! Absolutely so stinking fun and great, especially with the downtime bonding stuff
