WELCOME

My first two rolls of film recently came back from processing/scanning and the results were mixed (it's a learning experience!). However there were definitely a few keepers. This was my favorite from the batch:

This was taken with my Pentax 50mm f1.4 using Ilford FP4+ during the CNY lion dances in downtown Manhattan (there may have also been a red and/or ND filter on) and I'm so glad that I managed to nail the focus and exposure. Shooting full manual (including focus) is a pretty new experience for me and this hectic environment was kinda like diving into the deep end. It probably would have made more sense to stop down and use a set hyperfocal focus distance, but the subject isolation and bokeh (not to mention the natural vignetting) give it a really lovely ethereal quality. That being said, pretty much everyone I've shown it to just says it looks creepy (lmao). I suppose I deserve that for bringing b+w film to such a colorful event!
I was also in Nevada recently and was able to fit in a little landscape photography. I wish I put more planning into it (ok, any planning at all) but I did stop by the [Seven Magic Mountains](https://sevenmagicmountains.com/) art installation. This was a surprisingly busy attraction, but fortunately I had my 10 stop ND filter handy, so I could get a long exposure in harsh daylight, turning the various tourists into these hazy spectral figures. This was shot at 70mm f18 with a 20 second exposure:

@“kory”#p61440 this rules! Never even though of an f-stop filter like that.
@“DavidNoo”#p61574 Yeah, it’s really great! The model I have is the Lee Big Stopper…looking at the website, I see there’s also a 15-stop “Super Stopper” now
@“kory”#p61578 I see they have a detailed guide on how to use it too. Very cool!

I was a little bit nervous at first since it was my first 8M march and because the big collectives that were organizing the march where I live are basically a bunch of terfs.
But there was also some smaller trans friendly groups that were claiming some space and I went with one of them and it was a great experience, having my two closest friends with me there also helped a lot. It was a bit weird knowing that a lot of the people around me didn't want me to be there though.
@“穴”#p61685 amazing—that last one is a really powerful image, looks like a crowd with torches at the foot of that obelisk-like structure
@“kory”#p61687 thanks!

i took this photo just to see what one of the stickers said, (this was at a drive thru.) it's kind of an artsy photo though.

@“Neko”#p70573 was it developed in 30 min or less?
@“DavidNoo”#p70574 sadly no, probably not since c.2000. but they do still do next day for around $10. in the bowery/chinatown nyc!

It was a clear and crisp winter’s day over here (10-14C, in the 50’s F) so I went on the longest walk I’ve taken since catching covid in February.
Everything was nice and green and it just felt great to be wandering through a bunch of parks.
I gave exactly zero thought to any framing or composition or the like here, these were all essentially me just grabbing my phone, aiming for about half a second, pressing the button and moving on.

Finally I thought I would test how my phone camera would handle a low, winter afternoon Sun

It was a nice walk, however now I am exhausted. Long covid is no joking matter, friends.
I don‘t usually use it in video games, but ’Death Stranding' photo mode is a lot of fun. It reminds me of when I used to go hiking and taking my camera with me.

My partner‘s parents gave us their old film cameras so as soon as I get batteries I’ll give this a whirl. Also my dog likes to chew up toys. [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/HTB5aZY.jpeg]
