Raindrop Sprinters! or raindrop for the free version! wss reluctant to share that but maybe just like try it but in the spirit lf fair competition don’t get too into it till the propper two weeks challange starts?
just checked and the graphics for the free version are simpler but the scoring seems to be the same so it works
This is a small game by a japanese indie dev about a cat avoiding the rain. It’s really cute!!!
This game had an original itch . io and browser free release called just Raindrop as well as an enhanced paid version called Raindrop Sprinters available on Steam and Switch. So y’all get to choose if you want to just stick with the browser/itch version or put down some cash for the comfort of playing it in your switches, steam decks or whatnot.
As far as I’m aware the scoring and the mechanics in the standard mode are exactly the same and should work no matter which version y’all choose to play.
Forgot to ad this. The first times I played this game I was very confused and tried to get the stars to score. The trick is to keep running to the other side. Stars aren’t that important at the beginning. I think.
my strategy now is to try to race across as much as i can before the rain level gets too high, while getting nonstop bonuses when i can; once i’m getting ~20,000 points, i start to collect stars to multiply that
I forgot to take a screenshot of the score screen, but my top score is in the top right. This was my 3rd or 4th run. Pretty fun! I’ll try some more runs later.
Perhaps like me you didn’t read the instructions initially but note that by pressing and holding the Z key you can enter Bullet Time, with the gauge in the bottom right being the length of time you can use it.
It seems to be used up fast and recharges very slowly though so it is best saved until the rain is starting to really come down. I’ve been tapping it here and there to maintain a Non Stop Bonus but that’s it.
There is also “cats and dogs” mode which is accessed by holding up while selecting either Window or Fullscreen. As far as I can tell this starts the rain at Level 29 and is a great way to lose immediately.
Hm, what I don’t seem to get is how Bullet Time is working exactly. Sometimes it seems to slow everything down and then sometimes it seems to instead give you a burst of movement speed.
This game is fun! I think I was using a loose version of the @NoJoTo method. I tried to be as non-stop as possible but timed star bounces to catch when I could.
Also, if you were curious what the steam version looks like, it looks like this.
