I’m about to play King of Dragon Pass. I checked out this beforeiplay page; anything else I should know? Any thematically adjacent works, games or otherwise, that would enrich the experience?
Challenge Accepted.
@tapevulture I think you just need to read the manual
@Gaagaagiins that’s not really an accurate description of what’s in the game, thankfully
David Jaffe (not to confuse with Alex Jaffe), creator of Twisted Metal, God of War and other prepubescent videogames was apparently very annoyed by this game. He claims that he didn’t got what he expected, what he or anyone else would expect after watching the trailer other than what the game actually is remains a complete mystery…
Developer Consumer Softproducts was quick enough to already cut a new trailer out of Jaffe’s (not to confuse with our Jaffe) reactions.

@dicegame is this like a frog fractions type of thing?
@JoJoestar I will forever hold a grudge with David Jaffe for actually directly refusing my request to add the “Control Freak” controller configuration back to Twisted Metal: Head On for the PS2 port. As in (and I don’t know how exactly this came to happen and only have my fragile memory to rely upon) I specifically put a post on some online message board requesting the feature and, instead of ignoring me like he probably should have, he actually replied and specifically told me he would do this.
This may be an entirely manufactured memory, but I am more than happy to believe it now that I know it would not be my only justification to have beef with this man.
@yeso it’s the world of warcraft peggle
@JoJoestar am I wrong or is that bog standard FPS mechanics with p3NgUiN oF d00m *holds up spork* textures in place of having an actual point of view or anything interesting to say
@dicegame accidental occultism lol
@bodydouble It’s an immersive sim with dynamic systems and unique quirks, check out the steam reviews, people are raving with this one.
@JoJoestar ok cool i was hasty and will remember this in the future!
so as to not waste a post in this terrific thread, here is the 1987 Speccy oddity Soft & Cuddly
This one is a neat LSD/Yume Nikki homage with a more structured progression. You pick up items and try different interactions and the interest resides in finding the different things you can do and the consequences they have on the game world.
4 bucks on Switch?!? Done.
cool I watched the trailer and assumed PC only I’ll give it a try on switch as well…
@JoJoestar opened a new tab and bought this one for the switch while the trailer was still playing…the janky PSX-like aesthetic was enough of a selling point for me
Yeah I have been playing the Switch version, which apparently released not that long ago, that trailer must be older.
playing adventure game “The Cat Lady” I like it so far, haven’t played too much. Uncanny looking mix of pixel art and photo collage in unsettling personal life mandala story. Played the dev’s first game “downfall” a while back and it has a real heavy mood but is a little sophomoric and out of control (in a bad way) - but this game seems a lot more measured and thoughtful and has less gore for sake of gore
revisiting contemporary potential-classic World Of Horror on reading news of a major update to be released next month
I hesitated to include it itt because it’s more of a genre game than a genuine expression of belief/ontology/delusion or whatever, but it’s extremely cool.
diegetic pc interface, inscrutable UI, ito/marou atmosphere. I’m sure everyone posting here knows it already
I gotta figure out power pc emulation and post mid 90s new age software one of these days….
