It was the second instance of Bandai Namco working on something and them getting kicked off the project for redirect in-house in the frame of a year.

We found out that they got taken off FF7 remake in like 2019 or 2018 even, then the same thing happened with Prime 4 within the same year.

I should be more careful with my comments—I thought they announced with the recent trailer that, following the change in developer to Retro in 2019, that they had to scrap what they came up with and start over again sometime between 2019 and 2024. I can’t find it now, and even if it were the case, it wouldn’t qualify as the same kind of thing as what prompted the complete change in development staff.

That’s actually not what I meant, because I didn’t know that!

Pretty sure that was Cyberconnect2, not Bandai-Namco.

The same Bandai-Namco Singapore studio that was working on Prime was alleged to have also been working on a Ridge Racer game that died, IIRC.

Ah you are right. FF7R was CC2. But I think you can see how memory merged the two lol

Typical jaded forum post: I have no care about Prime 4, it can’t be one quarter as groundbreaking as before. we’ve done this many times already, with diminishing returns. Unless they somehow reach Breath of the Wild levels of immersion and atmosphere, it will fall short of what it could and should have been, and I haven’t had even a 1% expectation of that ever happening. Instead it will probably just be another 10 year old’s delight like Prime 3, going through the motions with minimal feel to it. I’ll be surprised if it’s anything else. Again typical jaded forum post but I juyst have very low expectations of any Nintendo software.

This is kinda where I’m at with Nintendo games. Everything looks really uninteresting and brainless. With the exception of Splatoon I haven’t been impressed by a Nintendo game since 2021 with Bowser’s Fury and New Pokémon Snap, both of which I wouldn’t say aren’t a 10yo’s delight but at least they don’t feel throwaway or perfunctory or devoid or good ideas.

Ah… Another Metroid game, another ugly as sin hockey suit.

There’s something very freudian about Samus using psychic abilities to open vagina doors.

Do you think Shigeru Miyamoto was inspired by Bioshock when coming up with Samus’s hand gestures? It looks kinda silly, but I guess retro’s big idea was to give samus’s left hand something to do.

Looks like… Metroid Prime.

The light suit from MP2 in Mazda soul red crystal

This is one of the worst suit designs I’ve seen for Samus, maybe being only slightly better than the one from Dread’s endgame.

This is what Samus should have looked like in her porsche red suit:

I agree, the purple visor and accents don’t work, and there’s too much black on the chest. They should have gone with gold or something, especially for her bindi.

My 12-y-o watched that trailer and said, “OK, so Samus’ new power is that she has The Force?”

Brutal takedown dude.

… I’m still gonna buy it because I like Metroid games. Sorry in advance.

Metroid hasn’t let me down yet. I’m even playing Dread again, and it’s ok! I really like Samus’ animations in that one. I’d say I’m a likely buy, or I’ll figure out an alternative way.

What is this image from?

I must still be confused by English grammar because I misread this sentence as implying the suit from Metroid Dread’s endgame is anything but the greatest Samus suit ever. I also fully support Metroid suits going into the Monster Hunter “wear your slain enemies” direction.

ANOTHER NEW SAMUS SUIT FROM METROID PRIME 4:

If you really like watermelon, I suppose it’s an ok suit.
