damn, he’s just like me!
Tried watching Barbarian but got too scared! Didn’t even make it halfway through
People keep convincing me to watch horror movies but I’m too much of a baby to handle some of these.
Looks like @exodus is going to watch Alien: Romulus after all!
last night i saw a screening of no other land, a documentary about the palestinian community of masafer yatta in the west bank. i keep thinking about it and almost crying. free palestine.
Uncut Gems is a wild ride! Even with everything, I was still shocked by that ending.
Just watched Iron Claw. I don’t know that it’s as good as critics seem to believe–I think they’re all suckers for a sad sports story–but near the end when Zac Efron is watching his sons play, you really feel the weight of loss. And maybe I’m particularly sensitive to something like this right now because I thought my brother was going to kill himself a few months ago.
I forgot to mention it because I watched it at the end of a night shift struggling to stay awake, but I became one of those Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World dudes. How fucking good is that movie
One of my projects for next year is to read all those books. I mean, assuming I like the first one.
Yoooooooooooooo
The offspring in Alien: Romulus looks like David Mitchell.
My partner and I watched I Saw the TV Glow last night. It was pretty ok. The movie at times felt more like a presentation, with characters extrapolating their inner feelings and journeys covered only by the language of the film’s core metaphors. I think it’s strength is in how color grading is used to create a layered atmosphere and mood. I wish that kind of atmosphere building had been more present in all other aspects. I’ll definitely pay attention to what the people who made this make next.
All I really want to do is watch Once Upon a Time in China for the rest of the week.
Just saw The First Omen and loved it except for the part at the end when
Summary
Ralph Ineson shows up to talk to Nell Tiger Free about the Damien Initiative
my thought at the time was mark zuckerberg
Curious about the filmmaker Alonso Ruizpalacios after reading about him on reverse shot. Anyone seen his movies? I’m going to check it out
I’ve seen A Cop Movie and liked it. It’s got this twist that made me think of Pathologic. The trailer for La Cocina doesn’t look like my thing but did see it was showing next week
Once more, Halloween is THE best time of the year, especially when it comes pirate tv 2.0 broadcasts, aka Twitch, cuz tonight is both OPEN VCR NIGHT (which I forget if I’ve mentioned before; basically a tape deck is set up in the middle of the bar, with patrons invited to insert whatever VHS tape they have their hands on, with its contents shown both IRL and online; am hoping for some good horror adjacent content) AND the FORT90 FILM CLUB [IN EXILE].
Included in the line-up, among other things, my now firmly established spooky season tradition, aka a showing of Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein (the version with Cumberbatch as the Creature)…
… Sorry, nothing else I have line-up has trailers; it’s gonna be THAT kind of night; stream will be via the alt account as usual, but this time starting at 10PM EST, again immediately after the last tape has been ejected at OPEN VCR NIGHT…
Last night I showed two of my friends Metropolis for Halloween, and I live-translated the German intertitles because I know both German and English
I was basically acting as a benshi, and we all thought it was really fun
I know this is SUPER last minute, but THE best Halloween party that you don’t even have to leave the house starts in just a few; got two “films” on tap, including…
Along with maybe THE perfect follow-up to this past Monday’s screening of Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein…
Starts at 11PM EST, over at…
watched the substance and didn’t really get what message it was trying to communicate. Was it too subtle for anyone else or is it just me??
just wanna say for any “fortninety curious” folks out there, i popped into the stream for a bit last night and had a real good time.
