Michael Shannon is one of the best around. I donāt particularly like REM, but I considered checking out his REM cover band just to share air with him for a while. Mads also has the juice.
Shannonās approach is heavily text-work based which is close to my heart, and it shows in his performances! He absolutely rocks
Iām in the theater waiting for the Minecraft movie to start. Itās 70-80% kids and most of the rest (including me) parents. Will report back when Iām safe.
Minecraft Movie:
Better than the Super Mario Bros. movie, almost as good as Sonic. Fun acting all around (Matt Berryās cameo is a highlight). Some nonsensical plotting and butt jokes to be expected. Good nods to mechanics.
The kids as an audience were actually fine - appropriate ooh-ing and aah-ing. They got most worked up about seeing a Creeper coming up behind a character - good stuff. The audience member who most annoyed me was a guy who sat down 15 minutes into the film and asked if the seat next to me was taken. I said no. A minute later he asked if my son and I would move over so his friend could sit with him. No, I whispered.
There is an essay to be written in one of the main characters (Billy Mitchell meets Macho Man) owning a used game store and how that game store was designed. Unreliable first look at it - looked like it focused mostly on Western-coded gaming media (and also a Double Dragon like), but thatās a pretty loose read.
I feel like the correct play here would have been to ask you to move over immediately rather than a minute later
Just watched The Thin Blue Line
Itās alright but a bit repetitive
Also, just watched Linda Linda Linda (2005)
i first listened to The Blue Hearts a few years ago and really liked this movie. Bae Donna was a nice surprise and i smiled when i learned that the sensei in the movie is Hiroto KÅmotoās brother.
What the hell is going on with the MC movie?
I went to McDonaldās yesterday, my gf and I were in awe at how ugly the designs are. Then I see footage of theatre riots (second slide, sorry for the ig link)

Has the zoomzoom uprising begun?
jk I remember what teenage movie hype was like, throwing stuff like this. but⦠yeah
finally watched the third part of richard linklaterās before trilogy, before midnight - loved it! maybe my favourite of the three, but the entire series is fantastic.
Love the Before movies.
Individually, each of the films are pretty good. Taken as part of the whole, as a trilogy, I think theyāre the greatest romance films ever made.
I watched Princess Mononoke in theaters earlier this week and have thoughts, but first I just want to say that Iām still wrapping my head around the live-action Lilo & Stitch trailer. What is the intention of creating a visual representation of Stitch that allows me to understand what it may be like to accidentally hit him with my car?
Die Hard 2 isnāt that good is it? But I still enjoyed it.
Itās an odd one. Basically a crummy retread of the original with a lesser cast of baddies, but still satisfying in the end. Kinda āWe have Die Hard at homeā energy.
Die Hard With a Vengeance was as good as i remembered it. Thereās a few silly things but come on itās all filmed in the city and they actually blew up a department store in the beginning. Can you imagine that now? Rules.
