Not defending the pricing noted above, but should a games pricing be dictated by its age?
Pricing aside, kotaku sure has fallen off.
If the game was released across 3 console generations- I feel compelled to say that shit is old and you should at least charged me the original sticker price for a definitive edition with all the dlc.
It is a very hard sell for me for beyond the public perception of depreciated value, but it has a bigger and very recent sequel. I feel like you are deterring ppl from buying both like you’d hope not presenting a value packaging.
Arcade Archives finally adding rewind is hot news tbh
Here’s a fun observation from Hamster during the livestream in which they first discussed Arcade Archives 2: Ridge Racer…
… The Nintendo Switch 2 and Ridge Racer will jointly release on the 7.6.5 (June 5th of the imperial year Reiwa 7), which not only spells out “Namco” (NA MU KO) in Japanese phonetic slang, but bears a troubling resemblance with Sony’s superstitious release dates for its PlayStation consoles: 12.3 for the Playstation, imperial year Heisei 12.3.4 for the PlayStation 2, 12.12 for the PSP, 11.11 for the PlayStation 3, etc.
So a Nintendo console is getting a lucky number release date + Ridge Racer at launch.
Most playstation nintendo console since the nintendo playstation
For import purposes, is the Steam Deck considered a computer or a game console? You and I know it’s PC gaming, but do regulators know that?
Yes
Does it though? I think Steam Deck is produced in China and Nintendo Switch 2 is produced in Vietnam where tariffs were lowered to 10% (for now)
If possible, the ESA will lobby it so that Steam Deck, Xbox, & Playstations are considered a computer or something, and the ones who get hit with the 114% tariff are the Ambernics and Miyoos of the world.
Well, it’s still bad news for the PSVita2, anyway.
Nintendo Family Computer Switch 2 has 2 mice so it’s a computer. Sony Computer Entertainment just needs to turn on Other OS in PS5. Vita2 is a phone.
They are gonna start selling their consoles with a linux install on a small partotion of the hard drive to make them computers
talking to border patrol checkpoint: that’s just a Walkman, sir
it’s just a toy robot and a VCR entertainment system, not a video game don’t worry heheh!
Once again my recurring half-joke about smuggling a gameboy micro with an everdrive micro in various orifices rears its ugly head! All the games you could need for a lifetime of fun, easily smuggleable into various prisons, regimes, etc!
- Linux on consoles
Chi-boys run on android and/or linux so they’re phones/computers.
The fact that nobody on this forum is mentioning that Mario Kart World direct says more than any actual discussion would
Can’t speak for others, but I think the direct was Fine. I’m more angsty about if I’ll be able to get a system day 1 to be too hyped, and even my hype for a new Mario Kart is more a deep sigh having played MK8 since 2014. It’s not like MK8 was something we (read: I) played and stopped after a year or two, and now it’s been 10 years without a new game… instead, that original release turned into the equivalent of a live service game (albeit one with a slow drip of updates) with more content than I care to engage with regularly.
So I’m pretty chuffed to get a new game, and I’m gonna play the heck out of it as soon as I can, but yeah my biggest excitement from the direct was probably Cow and Penguin and relief is that there’s a new one (that’s not a phone game) that some people will be able to start playing in less than 2 months.
