@anderbubble#7590 The DL for the version that @robinhoodie#7569 posted works fine for me on bsnes Accuracy in PC Retroarch if you want to be lazy. If you‘re doing the Lunar IPS patching yourself using the ROMhacking file(s) below, make sure you’re able to run the base .sfc ROM that you have before applying the patch(es)
ROMhacking IPS Links: [translated ](https://www.romhacking.net/translations/302/) - must be done before deluxe [deluxe](https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5397/) - there is apparently a key that's in a different place that will require the PS1 guide
Silent Hill Origins for the PSP is a lot of fun. I have some good memories of playing it alone in the dark in my old studio apartment on that smol screen lol.
say what you want about the lore of that series but whatevs, that game as a game was a great time!
I also played The Evil Within last year and loved it, on account of it being so random and ridiculous just for the sake of it. I really gotta fire up the sequel one day soon.
This game/story is ultimate dystopia (e.g. modern hell). Five immortal human playthings being ironically tortured for all eternity for the amusement of a super computer that went crazy from all of the modern world's negativity.
To set the tone here is the game's intro, with AM being played by Ellison himself:

Game is available for purchase on GOG for $6.

@Moon#7620 SOMA is unbelievable. I also nominate SOMA.
I watched a playthrough a few years ago with me spouse and we still talk about it. I rarely vibe with horror because it can sometimes feel like a genre exercise, but with that game it feels like the horror setting was just a byproduct of the "what does it mean to be human" type question the game sets out to explore. Same with Doki Doki actually.
Then again Frictional's previous game was about exploring a scary castle so what do i know lol
@tapevulture#7637 I agree Soma was really good. Impressive how bleak it is, and the steady but relentless momentum toward the conclusion. Has a suffocating die-has-been-cast feeling that you find in some of the more forthright + effective horror fiction.
Really looking forward to the new frictional next week. They seem to go from strength to strength so we'll see
Completely forgot one of my favorite horror games ever until just now!
The Haunting: Starring Polterguy
If you don’t remember this bizarre Sega gem definitely check out some videos on YouTube. I remember, even as a little kid, feeling like it was a different thing and not quite a video game but it’s laden with gags that were uproarious, and pretty scary back then.
@copySave it literally took me this long to figure out why I couldn't get the Clock Tower translation patch to work.
The English translation expects the rom it's patching to have a header. It says so explicitly in its readme. But romhacking.net, when it associates it with the target rom, gives the sha1 hash of a headerless rom. Since my rom is also headerless, my hash matched, but the patch wasn't applying properly.
I added a header to my Japanese rom and applied the patch, and now it's working. 😅
@JoJoestar#9626 I'm a crazy person and desperately wanted to patch it myself.
Also, I thought I had tried the cdromance version and it hadn't worked either; but having seen it work now I realize I must have just drowsily mishandled the rom.
