I feel like this would be right at home in Jet Set Radio.
Once again a post that I think sounds exactly like music from King’s Field
It’s got that organ and the droning bass. It’s the most kings field like music I’ve ever heard without being intentional.
In the comments, some people have apparently complained about the music. Dude makes the music himself to avoid copyright claims he got when using royalty free music. Wild that it ended up sounding like kings field. Guess that means kings field really was like outsider art all along.
The guitar riff in the bridge of Koi by Hoshino Gen always makes me think of yoshi’s island.
Given how freely he cites game music, sounds and jingles in Souzou that certainly doesn’t feel like an accident.
this shit goes crazy
Nothing else they did sounds remotely like this afaik
The synth lead and four-on-the-floor kick pattern on this track, starting at around thirteen seconds, remind me so much of Cave Story that it is genuinely distracting. Takes me fully out of the song lol
Feel like this whole album is just waiting to back some ps1/ps2 jrpg.
Digging into the credits Tomohiko Kira is a guitarist featured on both Xenogears and Chrono Cross!
Just this collection of the “bad ass” moments of classical music, each one of these pieces inspired like 20 game soundtracks.
my personal aoty dropped today and they absolutely knew what they were doing with the bass line on this track:
This is more of the reverse. because the video game song in this set was the last one I heard. So technically the game music reminded me of non-game music.
There are 3 pieces of music that are superficially similar, that all remind me of each other whenever I heard them.
One is the title track from the Omori soundtrack (Not the title screen music, the one called OMORI and also OMORI ALTER )
The two others are Der Alte from the Ulver remix album 1993-2003 - First Decade into the Machines. (remixed by Martin Horntveth)
And the version of the Nine Inch Nails song The Frail from Things Falling Apart
sounds like the THPS2 menu
