@“After that rat, another and another.”#p53571 I'm just thinking of the money you can make selling herbs at ||the Broken Heart at night, sometimes 100+ coins per herb (day 2-3 economy)||
On day 6 (half way point, but really, more than half way since >!the days get shorter as the plague gets worse lol!<)
Decided not to worry about the Vlads both big and little, so if they catch the sand pest it's in god's hands. Curious to see what happens wrt to the >!terminary!< if one or both get knocked out by that point in the game. Everyone else in town I'm trying to run around and set up with prophylactics or antibiotics.
the “Rat Prophet” can be a real jerk sometimes
i wasn‘t expecting the game to let me walk off a precipice. it did let me, and the fall killed me. i turn off the game with a real sense that i’ve learned something, and a heart filled with gratitude for this wonderful game.
Staying at a friend‘s house for a few days and sadly can’t play any Mop this weekend hyuck hyuck
however I was able to test the game on an Xbox One X and it seems OK @"goonbag"#577. I sprinted through the first day and tried to trigger some events in order to put some strain on what I assume might trigger glitches and didn't run into anything major (though it was by no means a thorough test). The worst part is the cutaway loading screens take about a minute (> 50 seconds), and it has to stop to load for a couple seconds whenever a new town area loads in (The Maw, the Gut, etc), but that shouldn't be noticeable for anyone unaccustomed to the PC version.
thanks for testing a console version, it‘s hard to recommend based on the performance/bug rep but I’m a little reassured that it's reasonably functional on current gen machines
Very much enjoying my 3rd trip through the game. can't compare to the first playthrough and all the confusion and disorientation of not knowing what the fuck is happening or where it's going. But it's also rewarding to see new facets of a familiar story and makes me appreciate how intricate and thoughtful the writing is . There are missteps here and there but the writing and the localization is real impressive imo
It‘s reeeeaaaaaaaal good. And not that it’s full of/overly reliant on $20 words but I can‘t imagine some of the vocabulary in this game being written in too many other games (I haven’t played a lot of adult-oriented PC games)
i saw an interview with one of the miller bros. from myst once, and he said the motivation for their first point and click games was that they hated starting over in games. you know, you try, you fail, so you're sent back to try again.
what's great about _P2_, (borrowing the abbreviation from this thread's title, not the masonic lodge), is how dying and trying again from where you last saved unfolds the story.
without giving anything away, i found myself in probably the worst place to be at 5am on the third day, and died as a result. trying again, i know where not to be, and so i see the situation in the bad place from the outsider's perspective, and it's just really great.
it's like being lost in a maze with used ink ribbons scattered around. a great novel was written with those ink ribbons, and you can, with some work, piece it together by reading those ink ribbons.
and, like, ribbons appear and disappear according to some logic... this metaphor sucks.
anyway, cool game!
yes it‘s hard to get a solid foothold on what’s going on in the game, which, depending on one's taste can be either real engrossing or a turn off.

@“pasquinelli”#p54156 dying and trying again from where you last saved unfolds the story
yes there's cool stuff to be found by sucking ass and dying in this game. Highly recommend dying/getting killed in the game
I'm on day 7, had a terrible day 6. Made a total bonehead choice giving Stamtin a schmowder. Had been stockpiling sharp stuff to trade with kids for additional schmowders to no avail, so just had the one. So had to resort to abx for Notkin to keep him going, but thanks to bad RNG, RIP.... And speaking of still finding new and surprising things on a 3rd playthrough: I didn't know that could happen to >!murky!<. And the >!dream!< after...fuck me
Just a PSA in the event players find themselves in a rut or are finding the game daunting: remember that the days get shorter as the game goes on, so once you get into the thick of it, it builds up momentum to the finish line. It‘s a fairly long for an adventure type game, but it’s shorter than it seems based on the first few days

definitely true for me!
I'm onto day 8. Had this happen

>!however!< - was able to find a >!schmowder!< same day so my pal Sticky should be >!ok!<
more sage advice from the loading screen

Should I ask whether shmowders really work or not?
I know the answer
@“captain”#p54935 good. I was going to suggest having artemy take one to find out

if the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?
i need to start a new game.
lol why? what happened?
no pasquinelli you CAN'T save everyone! persevere!
(but yes, why?)
no food, no nothing, anywhere i might get something is too far for me to reach without dying.
can't save everyone? i can't save myself.
i think i was too cautious from the start with everything and it cost me my life. my wife started a new game and she‘s looting bodies and rummaging through people’s stuff and killing people (on accident) edit{and selling their organs}. sure, she just got beatten to death, but she was doing great up until that point.
