goddamn, just a treat whenever you drop em - and hell yes to um jammer lammy
but maaaan, gifs of vagrant story always make me think “i should finally play through that one” but i know like every decade since its release, ive relearned its ways & enjoyed myself up until…the world opens up a bit, or a mine cart area or something? i dropped off around the same place in 2 playthroughs and part of me is now just hoping for a remake or the like
Faselei is an excellent game. It’s also one of the most expensive Neo Geo Pocket titles to buy in English because the American release of the game was a bit of a fluke. SNK’s American branch had shut down after they’d already done a run of carts, and while several of them ended up getting recycled, a portion of those carts ended up in the hands of liquidators who repackaged them and sold them in blister packs (6 games and a console or 4 games. An insane deal in retrospect).
Dive Alert on the other hand is more interesting than it is good. Some really nice art but the battles are a drag. There’s a pretty good review of it here, but you’re probably not going to want to spend a whole bunch of time playing it. A lot of its ideas ended up popping back up in Faselei, and that game is considerably more enjoyable to actually play.
You look at enough of these gifs in a row and it’s just painfully obvious the Saturn never had a chance. Love that console! But just no chance against the ps1.
there’s absolutely no way simpsons wrestling is as much as as it looks, yeah? with as much praise as the N64 wrasslin games get, i feel like this would be known
harsh, but fair
again, just exploring over the years (the PSIO makes this so much easier) and pages like sean seanson just keep the PSX library as one of my all-time favorites
it’s like y’all have said on the podcast, absolute wild west days of early 3D - no AAA roadmap, no proper expectations of what even a game should entail, sometimes just vibes
