I picked up Tomato Way earlier today and managed to play through the first level, I see there have been some developments since then!
I don't think I can get a refund as I bought it via Fanatical and I left it paused earlier for quite a while, so I think I'm beyond 2 hours. No big deal, it didn't cost much.
It's a shame about the dev! Honestly I didn't pick up on anything like that so far (but also I wasn't really looking for it!), and was actually quite digging the vibe. The cutscenes are weirdly compelling and imagery is a good balance of disturbing and bizarre. My biggest issue is the game runs like absolute trash. My PC is by no means a powerhouse but I thought I'd be pretty safe putting it on high having seen screenshots, not so! I was getting sub 30fps in the first area. I dropped the settings down to medium and it was still quite inconsistent, but the combat became a lot simpler and more responsive. Still, the gameplay was only passable even if I'm being generous.
i mostly thought i was joking bc tomatoes = pizzagate (?) and ever since that one movie came out this summer ive got my eyebrow raised about any media involving adults rescuing a bunch of children.
@穴 and i agree with others no need to feel bad! nothing about the steam page would indicate that's where this was headed. but i got Crypt Worlds downloaded and am excited to try it tomorrow!
Dang, I guess I don’t feel bad for not liking it early on and stopping. Just now I’ll never go back to it, instead of trying again later this month!
I’ve never used the steam refund stuff before, time to try it out. If/when I get the refund I’ll go donate it (probably at least doubled, the game was cheap) to a Morocco relief fund. There’s a good one local to me that is matching donations, https://www.theintrepidfoundation.org/t/morocco-earthquake-appeal
Played a little bit, the tutorial prompts when you start crack me up cause they‘re tied to your actual location on the map. Also, it’s implied that tab is a map key (I think) but pressing tab did absolutely nothing for me?
Also, pressing x turns on a red dot sight, which is neat.
So I started typing this, then thought that I should read everything first before posting... Bummer about the creator, but I still think there's value is seeing what weirdos are making and peddling to each other. It's kind of a bummer that I gave him any money, but thems the breaks.
Also on that note, this game is not good lol, but fun in the way that a not good flash game on new grounds was during computer lab time in 7th grade.
I thiiiiiiiiink I've been to all the locations it's possible to visit so far (I found multiple locked rooms but not sure how to open them yet). >!I saw Indiana Jones and paid him to dig me some stuff. He said to come back in a few days. I peed in a hole and got a golden beetle for it. I planted some bones and meat and seeds in the backyard. I went to a town full of TVs and sad pilgrims. A horse insulted me because I don't have the stuff he wants yet. I have 49 days until the end of the world and I'm not really sure what to do next but I'm a little bit nervous to do nothing while I wait for my backyard o goodies/archaeologists to give me things.!<
tomato way was the very first game i ever bought with the money i got selling steam trading cards like 5 years ago. i will now have a reason to play it.
Had my first go at Crypt Underworlds. I mostly explored an apartment building. I found a lot of locked doors and zero keys. Accidently killed a fairy by eating a hotdog and violently vomiting on them, but she turned into capsule toys so that was cool. I pissed on a murder victim and they exploded into hamburgers.
Mostly splitting my time between SF6 and Void Stranger at the moment, but yesterday I played a good chunk of Crypt Worlds. Cool game!! Shocked how well its weirdo humor holds up. Discovering what the hell to do and how to thrive in its piss-based economy is strangely rewarding, and I love how >!new characters appear on certain days—it lends the game a sort of mysterious air!<. Unfortunately, though, there are no manual saves and I got myself stuck in some funky geometry, so now I have to restart lol.
I finally finished Crypt Worlds (>!twice, to see the different endings!<). Really enjoyed it.
Then I fired up _Crypt Underworld_ for a bit and I literally shouted when I found the sprint key and the inventory screen. Very excited to dig into this game later.
