@“Coffinwarehouses”#p137005 Give Scorn a look if you haven't. Game fully commits to its narrative and runs like 5, 6 hours.
Anyone have any particular feelings on Donnie Darko?
This October, I've been gravitating towards more 80's / 90's gothic post-punk. This got me in the mood to revisit Donnie Darko for the first time since college (3rd time since highschool). Prior to my rewatch, I think this movie mostly existed in my memory as a mood (soundtrack, teenage angst) and specific set-pieces (halloween party, nighttime bike rides, zip up hoodies, empty movie theaters).
Not sure if its initial impact on me was just a product of being in highschool when I first saw it, but its always stuck with me. There's definitely some iconic moments, so I think aesthetically, it's still very rich. Narratively... Maybe not so much?
I guess what I'm asking is, am I emo?
@“safety_lite”#p137499 I watched it for the first time in years about a month ago. I still enjoyed it and it is very much a vibe more than a story. It is also very funny.
@“safety_lite”#p137499 I was a huge fan when I watched it forever ago, wouldn‘t mind giving it another watch. There’s a lot the film is trying to say, from what I remember, but yeah, it seems to be more of an aesthetic than anything else.
Started *Seperate Ways*. Decidedly better than the original, but really not very scary cause of all the spy gadget campy-goofiness. Nice that it was only $10
halloween is the only time i enjoy silly mashups

Recent horror movie I watched for October was “Men”. (Men is a 2022 British folk horror film written and directed by Alex Garland. It stars Jessie Buckley as a widowed woman who travels on holiday to a countryside village)
I thought it had really cool camera work, great color and sound design.
I also just finished RE2 REmake 2nd run with Claire which was ok I have a personal issue with playing remakes it turns into checkpoint gaming for me and I don't really digest it as a seperate work.
Been fixating and playing this out of control song from Maniac Cop 2 on repeat.

was gonna check out world of horror now it's hit consoles but it seems it has pretty severe saving bugs like golden idol did
##### I HOPE ALL YOU BOILS AND GHOULS (AND… GENDERFEARS??) ARE HAVING A SPOOKY HALLOWE'EN
----
*Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door* (2001) is to Hallowe'en what *Die Hard* (1988) is to Christmas. Also, hot take: it's better than the show. I like it a lot.*
*although the scene where Ed's trick-or-treating and >!runs afoul of a trans sex worker who only stops soliciting when they find out Ed's a girl!< hasn't aged well and makes me uncomfortable. Problematic media, ooh~!! So scary!!!
Bebop Knockin' : Die Hard :: ??? : Eyes Wide Shut

@“KingTubb”#p138715 100 percent I'll say Eggers and Danny Villeneuve are some of the more interesting, mainstream directors out there.
Check out The Northman if you have a minute. Didn't do well intially in the box office but here is hoping it received to cult status success.
@“captain”#p138678 The Ninth Gate (1999)? The Hunger (1983)?
Can someone recommend me 3 lesser known yet short horror movies for me to watch leading up to Halloween :)
Dead Man’s Shoes
Martin (George Romero(
the old BBC version of Whistle and I’ll Come to You
those first two are R-rated fyi
I have not seen this because I am on my way to bed, but it looks neat. From Kineko Video:
