Don’t really know which thread to put this in but I made the decision today to quit playing videogames* for a while and I feel good about it. Way my life looks right now it just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Really excited to do more of everything else :))

*except Overwatch 2 with a group of friends I never get to see IRL

Today I learned there is a way to know the total amount of how much you have spent on Steam (using the app: Support > My Account > Data related to your Steam Account > External funds used).

I spent about 3k over 14 years, spread pretty evenly (1k before 2015). That is a little over 200 USD per year, and 4,6 USD average for each of my 650 games. Of those, I have played 2/3s at least once (you can see your overall playtime stats at the top of your games page, but just on browser and the steam client, not the app).

Overall, I’m pretty happy with those stats, aside from the 1100hrs spent on Counter-Strike which were kind of a waste of time, I got a lot of interesting games for cheap and I checked out most of them. I intend to spend even less going forward, only buying deeply discounted except from indie devs I want to support. I still have a ton of games in my account I am excited to get around to playing as well.

I had to redownload Pocket Casts and it set the playback speed to 1.2x by default. Made me feel pretty crazy until I figured out what it did.

I was watching another dad movie - A Clear and Present Danger - and was thinking about how Jack Ryan is a little too perfect and one dimensional in the books. I googled some Jack Ryan criticism and lo and behold all of the search results were not reddit! They were personal blogs and forums and a site called mormondialogue.com with a warning on top that says “seriously no politics.” Kind of fun to find old internet stuff cause i confused my algorithm.
