@“captain”#p108993 Next do a NeoGeo cart!

@“captain”#p108993 I remember when I was little having more of less the same revelation about a Game Gear cartridge lol.

@"tomjonjon"#p109000 I thought for sure you meant NGP but yeah do AES too if you have one on hand lmao

@“connrrr”#p109007 I don‘t think I’ve ever seen an NGP cart, oddly enough.

@“tomjonjon”#p109000 I don‘t have one of those, but I have this, I know it’s not big enough but it's the only thing I have even close to that size

Got my DSi set-up. Now that image uploads are working I'll upload some pics of the beauty soon.

I loaded up some games, mostly ones I'm wanting to try as a before-bed type game. I tried Runescape 3 first. I bounced right off that one simply because I got frustrated with the very first quest in which I had to talk to everyone in town. I couldn't find everyone! I swear I went everywhere!! (I'm sure I'm being an idiot.) I'm going to try Dragon Quest V next.

This DSi came with a number of pictures taken and saved to the system memory. They are of a young girl messing around with the camera features to make funny faces, it's pretty great. She did exactly what i did when I first got a webcam- make my face all distorted and cover the image in clip art! I'd feel weird uploading pictures of this person online, but I did take one of some art, which is the picture that greets me when I turn the system on.

This Dragon Quest V sure is gorgeous! I love just looking at it and rotating the camera with L or R.

I bought a DSI at a swap meet yesterday bc of this thread. You’re bad influences, I was fine playing DS games on my 3DS before. You’re all correct, the games look much better on original hardware than the 3DS. It’s missing the stylus, anyone have recommendations on where to get a good replacement?

Today I found out from this half hour chapter of a two and half hour video on the franchise as a whole that Star Fox Command is a visual novel, and a really cool one that goes in unexpected directions?

Contains spoilers for *Command* as well as probably minor ones for *Adventures* and *Assault*.

Boot up a Zed X

My mom just gave me this super busted lite. It powers on, but the hinge is broken and so is slot-1.

(Edit: actually the slot 1 works fine! Must have been a bad game)

@“hellomrkearns”#p110888 turn it into a GBA macro. Its one of my favorite DIY projects.

@“robinhoodie”#p110891 those do look cool, but I think I might just try to fix the screen! Turns out the DS slot was working fine after all.

I did the cheap-fix for the hinge and it worked surprisingly well. I might possibly do a full case replacement down the line as the rest of the system is in pretty good condition.

It came with a R4 card too, which I just updated to the latest firmware.

Next step is getting a usb charging cable for it! It came with the official AC adapter, but it's North American (120v) and New Zealand uses 230/240v. Is anyone aware of a Good Quality USB DS Lite cable? All the ones on Ali Express seem to be about the same.

There are some GBA games that I think look best on original Nintendo DS hardware. Metroid is one of them!

Well I sure as heck was unaware of the existence of a DS port of Xenosaga 1+2 until I saw it in a case at a shop yesterday (something like ¥20000). What a world we live in.

@“MDS-02”#p113962 I always forget that exists! Thanks for reminding me.

Away on holiday and enjoying lounging near the coast playing my Nintendo DS.

Last night I fell in love with Feel the Magic. I got it at launch but didn't really get it. Now though, what a game! It captures a lot of good DS energy; bold art and a team just doing everything they can think of with the hardware. The music has a Katamari feel and the art style is inspired. Really enjoying the mini games and it just feels joyous.

Today I played a chunk of New Super Mario Bros. Again, I played it at launch and bounced off it and couldn't remember why. After a couple of hours, I'll tell you why: a lot of goddarn unseen obstacles that you can only get through with trial and error or being Extremely Wicked at the game first time. I'm not good at Mario so it's a bunch of trial and error and memorising what's coming. Not feeling that.

Love using the DS though. I play something on it about every six months and have a great time.

I really miss Pictochat. In the age of smartphones, there‘s nothing quite like it, and there probably never will be. I’ll never forget the memories of going to sleepovers and we'd just sit together in a room with our DSs and send each other little goofy sketches.

As a Tail Concerto enjoyer and an aspiring Fuga Melodies of Steel enjoyer, I thought I'd give Solatorobo a try during my DS time. They give you a robot that can pick up and throw things, and really make some fun stuff with it. Football spiking enemies into each other never gets boring. What soured me on the game a bit is that it has no reason to be twenty hours long and so many scenes are overwritten. But it really satisfies the human urge to throw things at other things.
