Travel thread

ever since reading this grand teton post, i’ve been thinking about posting this amazing rock i found at a lakeshore as a child at grand teton national park.

to this day the ownership of this rock is contested by me and my older brother. his argument doesn’t hold up though.

my parents are big national park freaks so most of my childhood vacations where camping road trips trying to hit as many natioal parks as possible.

i just think this rock is neat

That is a very cool rock.

Do you remember what year that was? Just curious if we missed the very first Insert Credit Forum Community Meetup

it was either 2012 or 2013 and it definetely was during summer. so yeah we could’ve had the first ic forums community meetup.

we were in the Tetons just around two days I think, cause the main destination for that trip was Yellowstone

I’m in Austin, TX this weekend for my final zine fair of the season. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I’m staying with a friend and we’re planning on taking a swim at Barton Springs, but I’ve only been here once before and don’t know much about the city.

just today i was talking about how in the eric Adams indictments, they revealed that he once texted his girlfriend “you know first stop is always Istanbul.”

I just think that’s a really cool thing to say

I’ve been bopping around the Midwest staying with friends this week. Flew in to Chicago, and attended the Architectural Boat Tour which was dope, then hung out with friends.
Now I’m in Madison, WI which is a super cute college town. Having friends makes any place worth it, but we’re having a great time. So many cool little bars and restaurants and we’re biking everywhere. Incredible bike paths here. The lakes are so beautiful and the hike we did was so vibrant with the peak fall foliage. Madison is cool!

@DaveedNoo is in Madison WI if you want recommendations! I used to live there and really miss it sometimes. Unfortunately all the things I knew how to do there probably aren’t super interesting for a few days trip (e.g. explore the labyrithine UW library (which sadly you need a community borrowing card to get into if you’re not a student) or rent random VHSes and DVDs from Four Star Video).

Madison is edenic yeah

we did not go to the library but we did ride through campus (tough!) and got beers at the campus bar The Terrace which overlooks the lake. An outdoors club was learning how to get back in their canoes if they overturned and it was going very poorly but everyone on the terrace was cheering them on

Oh yeah I’m here now if you need recs! You’re lucky this is peak fall with nice weather!

Sounds like you’re visiting locals so they probably know what’s up. However might I recommend Gleam

or perhaps this Corn Maze puzzle

I was chatting with someone who now works at 4 star video and it sounds like its still doing well! And they told me it uses an ancient video check out software that perhaps only 1 other store in the country uses and looks like MS DOS. I need to ask to see it.

architecture in Chicago, nature in greater Wisconsin, alcohol in Milwaukee :white_check_mark: :white_check_mark: :white_check_mark:

yeah it would be hard not to find cool bars in Milwaukee… and cheese… I don’t think I ate a vegetable the whole week. That’s my only complaint
I also went to Galloping Ghost which was overwhelming, and mostly consisted of me going “they have thaaat game?!?”

It’s odd. We certainly grow a lot of vegetables here but they are difficult to find…

semi-necro bumping the thread because work is sending me to NYC for the first week of december. first time there, would gladly take any food recs/things to do and see/general advice you good people can give me. prob will hoover around manhattan/brooklyn, maybe take a short detour to Queens because I’m a Mets fan, idk yet. also if anyone wanna meet! i’m fun but my accent takes time to get used to

On cape cod for a work shoot let me know if there are good places to check out
