@“Gaagaagiins”#p88165 man I'd probably go in there if it was 11 pm

@“exodus”#p88169 man I’d probably go in there if it was 11 pm

You heard it here first, 11pm is CRAFT PEEPEE Time

@“seasons”#p88164 Slab City and Pioneertown

Also recommend Salvation Mountain and the Salton Sea while you’re there. That whole particular region has always felt like the post apocalypse piped through 60’s biker movies to me more than anywhere else I’ve ever been.

@“Karasu”#p88178 Heck yeah. I'm excited

edit Took a look, and we'll be able to fit these in! Thanks.

@“seasons”#p88181 all of this stuff is extremely close, yeah. I also shouldn’t undersell how creepy some of it is! And driving through the desert is both easy and interesting!

I was going to recommend Domo, the best Japanese food I've ever had outside Japan, but it [appears to be closed after going viral on tiktok a few months ago](

What a strange world we live in.

If you have a car the Mother Cabrini shrine is an hour or so outside town and has a great overlook of the city.

"The Fortune Teller Bar" has a fortune teller on call who will give you a tarot reading.

@“Moon”#p88192 I looked and saw it was closed! I hope tiktok didn't do it…

@“exodus”#p88097 a person-sized tunnel

[upl-image-preview url=]

I actually found it by accident since I came to the area by foot instead of the station and wanted to wander around aimlessly for a little bit before trying to figure out your directions. I was too early though! the mall itself wasn't open and only a handful of the places around it were. i'll come back later!

@“saddleblasters”#p88663 yeah, do it! Also listen to that episode from a million years ago where I talk about how they dismantled the old tunnel while I was there

Yeah, Gwangju is not the most exciting place in Korea! I have a great fondness for it because I lived there, but it‘s definitely not really a place I’d recommend going to unless you already had a good reason to be there.

I also stumbled into some good fortune there, in that a local guy began a tour company specifically to show the many foreigners interesting parts of Korea that are not really accessible if you don't speak Korean and/or have a car. So I got to go to a lot of interesting and somewhat difficult to get to places in Korea.

@“saddleblasters”#p88663 the mall itself wasn’t open

I wish it will open when you check back later, since a Sunday 休息日 most likely has prompted many shops and malls to close.oh.

@“Rocketomato”#p88687 I'll have time on Tuesday to do a little more walking around!

@“exodus”#p88097 the big stairs

I came back, this time from the station, and for some context for everyone on how big these stairs are, here's a picture of them from the outside, extending far into the distance:
[upl-image-preview url=]
(well, only half the length of it was stairs. there were some long horizontal sections)

edit: actually maybe this was a different big staircase, because I ended up in a different, much weirder place

double edit: if this is the place exodus was talking about, then wow, it is a crazy massive complex. Yongsan is very interesting, because you have super modern luxurious hotels and malls, and then you take a single turn and you end up in a neverending labyrinth of the 20th century's lost dreams

It‘s hard for me to even figure out what i’m looking at here, but looks like a cool place to explore!

you‘re all probably seeing this on twitter, I don’t use twitter but I wanted to do it because it's fun!

also there is a UK version.

I think the “stayed here” option is arbitrary, not sure where the line is drawn between visiting and living someplace, haha. I put where I stayed with family.

I am out of quarantine and at another hotel in Guangzhou for the night. All of the light switches have names like “Romantic mode” instead of “Side panel light”.

[upl-image-preview url=]

As I was checking in there were two drunk guys behind me on the floor happily wrestling with each other and some lady trying to push me out of the way so she could get these guys a room. Now they're in the room directly across from me and I keep hearing them yelling.

It is kind of unreal being free in a place I had to go through so much effort to get to. Too bad I have to get on a plane tomorrow morning and be quarantined for another week the second I arrive in Shanghai!

Also I got some pre-bedtime tea at Tomato Convenience Store

I guess I must have run across these before when I was in Beijing, but I had definitely not played Shenmue yet at that time, so nowhere near as significant an impression was left in my brain as I got seeing it just now.

those are real?

I guess someone just activated romantic mode, because loud moaning has now begun to permeate through the walls.
