ok breaking the rules of the title, but this thread has gone electric a long time ago.

@“hellomrkearns”#p38627
nooooo haha please there are enough metal covers of game music to last a lifetime
at least it‘s a song you don’t often hear covered but, usually they get electric guitar covers first
this is the type of music that has always been dominant in the video game cover scene and I made this thread to show how we‘re finally breaking from it in a big way whereas in the past anything else was often piddly by comparison
I don’t want to be pedantic and say no electric instruments. it‘s easier to slip in when it’s bossa nova
we all like to rock out sometimes but I made this thread in direct opposition to such things
VIRTUAL LIVE SET AT COSMO CANYON CENTER CAMP, HOW FAR WE HAVE COME
https://youtu.be/9lyspD1U0bc
Cosmo Canyon is my fave and is without a doubt where I’d hang in this world if it were real. It’s basically Rainbow Gathering, where Rainbow Family gathers to pray for world peace, lmao
@“Funbil”#p39607 The algorithm was never nice to this video, but this is a great example of what used to be one of the only acoustic Golden Sun covers I could find 5 years ago. It has brought me to tears on multiple occassions, and I have posted it in this thread before, but I'll post it again dammit! They made a fricking clay mation to go with it, come on!!!
A couple tracks I haven't seen covered much before:

@“thebryanjzx90”#p39623 Absolutely,
Great channel, their better ones are the obscure tracks like these,
also, by posting these two in juxtaposition, you‘ve put a spotlight on how similar they are, yet another FF4->FF7 connection for my theory that they’re secretly super connected.
@“treefroggy”#p39676 I noticed the similarities too! Please let me know when the next issue of your FF4->FF7 newsletter is releasing I would like to subscribe
@“thebryanjzx90”#p39717 I think it's in my drafts somewhere, lol. or search the Final Fantasy thread for a post where I drop my theory of how the maps are connected.
Oh boy I‘m so excited! I have a combination of disappointment that more people don’t know about the Youtub channel 72 Hours Remaining and pride that I get to champion them.
It's these two guys who just did all the main Zelda music _and_ a bunch of more obscure tracks from the games. It's just two guys playing nylon string guitars (they have, I believe, one video where one of them plays steel string), and the arrangements are excellent.

Their version of Lost Woods is also my favorite by an order of magnitude. I can't think of a single other version that is this chill

And then, there's FreddeGredde, who is decidedly a prog/metal guy but has this one medley of Wind Waker tracks that is absolutely precious (I probably prefer his electric stuff, which does include a lot of originals)

That’s what’s up
Their Sword Search cover is epic
I’ve been walking instead of riding around lately, and adjusting the music I play (when i do play stuff out loud while walking) and those guys are now my new main squeeze
There‘s this channel called Adventure Archives that I got way into during the pandemic. They’re a group of four hiking vloggers who make these hour+ long documentaries of their camping and thru-hiking trips with very high production values—notably, they make the soundtracks to all of their videos.

@“connrrr”#p50679 that’s what’s up.
@“dylanfills”#665 I have a story now for you both
I was taking a walk / picking up some food
First time outside all day
Venice boardwalk was 5% capacity and had a general beautiful and pleasant vibe because it the sun was setting around 4:20 and basically just locals and snowbirds.
I was bumping 72 hours, when a vagabondish traveller backpack dude with a cantankerous pup asked me “hey, what band is that”
So I replied. Then I asked what’s his pup’s name, he said Koji
I said, koji? Named after koji kondo? And he says, “no well, it’s a character from a game called Brawlhalla.”
Then I said, “koji from brawlhalla is definitely named after koji kondo”
And then he said “well, see ya later”
You see the irony? Hopefully someone sees the irony because no one in the vicinity did and instead of making a new friend I died a little bit inside
@“treefroggy”#p50763 that‘s a lot more disappointing than just seeing someone with a band t-shirt you like that doesn’t really know the band. It feels like you were millimeters from a real connection but years away at the same time
@“treefroggy”#p50763 that poor dog
to be fair, @dylanfills @connrrr I did see him again and I will see him again, that's just how it is sometimes
