In honor of year end wrapped and other similar activities post y’alls favorite songs of the year!
Partly inspired by my friend groups tradition of making a collaborative playlist at the end of the year where we each get 20 songs to add. I thought it would be fun to make a thread here for anyone to share their top 20 songs of the year. Any format is fine, list, links, playlist, mixtape, anything!
Mine is a Spotify playlist linked below. My own personal rules are to only have 1 song per artist and no repetitions from the prior year.
(btw if this topic is repetitive lmk we could also move this to the general music topic.)
I made a playlist and was about to post it before I remembered my spotify name is my entire legal name. So instead I will post screenshots (I couldn’t get to 20 without feeling like I was forcing it, so I was happy with 15)
I should have clarified in my original post but songs don’t have to be from 2024. Think of it as a snapshot of taste from this year. A lot of mine are “new to me” artists or songs.
I did, it’s the reason I put the song on! What a great show too. Really looking forward to any new music he puts out because all his singles are so fun.
I went to the first tour stop in atl and it was wonderful. as a big pc music head, I was so happy to see kane west live w/ pre kkp material; met him after the show and showed him an email correspondence we had years ago where he sent me old soundcloud files! you can here me yell “fortune teller” in the concert footage that night before he miraculously cues it up as the next song (I had no idea lmao)
I went through my monthly “dirty dozen” playlists and compiled 20 songs that felt pretty important to me this year. I think only 2 or so were actually released in 2024, haven’t been keeping up with new releases too well. One per artist, with one exception. Also, spotify sux
edit: I lied, looks like we’ve got a double hisaishi situation as well
my partner & i are not so much song listeners but more album listeners. sure, we’ll hit shuffle from time to time but when actively listening we tend to stick a record on and listen to at least a few tracks from it.
