I liked Mario 3D land. The 3D effect is used well and it’s pretty fun.

The Monster Hunter 3DS games are, inexplicably, on sale for the next week.
Who (except for me, I guess) is checking for 3DS game sales in September of 2022. Why would a company put a game on a one week sale six months before the entire service dies.
Regardless, it's probably the best possible time to snag a MonHun (and its gigantic pile of free DLC) while the snaggin' is good
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/monster-hunter-4-ultimate-3ds/ (The one that MonHun fans recommend)
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/monster-hunter-generations-3ds/ (The one with all the old monster cameos)

@“TheFragranceOfDarkCoffee”#p86711 choices like this are why Capcom was able to offer its staff in Japan 30% pay increases earlier this year!

@“TheFragranceOfDarkCoffee”#p86711 looks like they're on sale again, just got monhun 4 for $5.
As I continue to delve the 3DS sales, I find this one: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/severed-3ds/
Severed is a weird little first person dungeon crawler with screen slashing combat and a cool, flat color aesthetic. I haven't played it so I can't say it's good, but I can definitely tell it's *interesting* and, importantly, currently on sale for $3.74. I'm gonna give this one a try and report back later.
@“TheFragranceOfDarkCoffee”#p91881 Severed is a real cool game, and makes good use of touch screen inputs. Made by Drinkbox, the folks who brought us Guacamelee!
Bumping this thread as the end is near.
Thanks to a tweet by forum and twitter user GSK, I discovered Nyoki Nyoki: Tabidachi Hen on the Japanese eshop a while ago.
It is a Vs puzzle game where you match falling blocks. These blocks link and look like growing plants. Instead of destroying automatically when linked, you choose when to destroy them and send them to your opponent's screen.
The game is very cute and I really enjoyed it. Recommended!

@“Chopemon”#p104923 I guess one can't buy this on any western eshop?
@“exodus”#p104925 Japanese only but according to Wikipedia, it has a TBA date on JP Switch.
@“Chopemon”#p104923 I love the Maple Story-esque aesthetic! Highly green, blurry bitmap forest background with log-themed GUI, slimes with :3 face, orange mushrooms, bold yellow sans serif font, it's all there
@“Chopemon”#p104927 I believe it's designed by the original Puyo puyo creator so hopefully it gets a wider release!
I have to proselytize Yoot Saito‘s Aero Porter as a great weird but satisfying sorting game. It’s a simple idea but you have a lot to keep track of on the screen, and since the baggage carousels go around and around, it gets you into a hynotic flow state pretty quickly. It's a very nice game to play while listening to a podcast or killing time while you wait for someone.

My own get-these-while-you-can list should be up on Retronauts soon-ish (or more truthfully, it should have been up a year ago but I wrote it and clean forgot to, like, post it)

It's from the former president of Compile, Masamitsu Niitani, and was made with other Puyo Puyo alum but isn't from the creator of Puyo Puyo per se—the guy who actually came up with the game system, Kazunari Yonemitsu, is the same guy who went on to create Baroque, and nowadays is an active analogue game designer and critic.
This game was never released outside of Japan and at this point I don't expect it to happen—dude tried crowdfunding a Switch version on a JP crowdfunding site but wasn't successful, and hasn't had any luck finding a publisher (in no small part due to being well in his 70s and publishers being genuinely concerned that he'll drop dead before they can recoup). He's still in debt from the 3DS version and lives a very humble life, working part-time cleaning up after infirmed people at an old folks' home and streaming from his tiny apartment, and I wish someone would throw him a bone just so I didn't have to see him pushing NFTs or gambling on crypto in the hopes of getting lucky.
If I suddenly get a load of money, I will help that guy out. Since that is unlikely to happen, I'm going to pass this over to our current publisher who might be interested.
Capcom has realized that the shop is shutting down in like two weeks and has put everything on a frankly ridiculous sale. You can get all six Ace Attorney games for a total of twelve dollars. Each Monster Hunter is three bucks. It's crazy

Dang I was excited about this but my 3DS does not have enough blocks!! Thank you anyway Lol!
@“X3N0Sbioz”#p108023 Get an SD card real quick!
Been browsing those deep sales (thanks @“TheFragranceOfDarkCoffee”#330, $2.99 got me for Ace Attorney trilogy – only played the first upon release, and those games belong on a Nintendo handheld) and swinging by to say that Karous - The Beast of Re: Eden is a notable sleeper, especially at $2.74. Can‘t hyperlink right now as the forum’s wiggin out, but: https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/karous-the-beast-of-re-eden-3ds/
I'm not saying it's good, but I like popping into it sometimes. It's a continuation of the MileStone (Radirgy, Chaos Field) stuff by a team with some ex-MileStone people. Has an interesting structure of micro-shmup "missions" and a grindy nature where you level stuff up and try again as anime people say absolute, almost biblical, gibberish at you over the radio (which you can barely read out of the corner of your eye). So that gives it a weird feeling. Rough and interesting
