Hey folks, Iām JC! At some point in (re)discovering Insert Credit recently, I realized Iād been reading the site (and action button too?!) at some point prior to 2010, and itās been fun to get back into that.
Iām kind of all over the place with games but have been revisiting older games recently with a leaning towards handheld games, which has been quite nice. The console ranking episode definitely helped fill out some blind spots in what to check out. Rengoku _rocks!_ Also have developed a need for a Saturn, which Iāve never really played, so thatāll be fun to explore.
Outside of video games I like watching horror movies with my spouse, though she doesnāt tend to be into the shlockier stuff. I also really like board games but the past couple years have been rough on that front.
Also soon to be a student in library sciences so Iām sure thatāll take up a fair chunk of time.
Anyway, hi, hope to make friendās with yāall and find a nice home here.
@coffeentacos Let me offer you an advanced welcome to the library field! It can be tough to find work sometimes, especially right out of school, but once youāre in it can be a great field to work in.
@marurun Thanks! Itās been a thing Iāve put off for too long, and then had to put on hold as my wife went through school, but now I can finally move ahead with it, so Iām pretty excited!
hi everyone! iām ed, fell into the action button - insert credit pipeline as many others have. iāve been lurking around in the action button discord for a while and this seems like a cool place to have the sort of discussions that are hard to have in other online spaces nowadays.
stuff about myself: i'm a journalism/film student, i want to write about videogames but find it hard to actually come up with ideas, i've tried to learn japanese twice and stopped, am about to start my third attempt, i'm a huge mystery novel buff and have read all of the Agatha Christie Poirot novels (not a very big task because they're pretty short but i'm a nerd is what i'm saying). i like anime and comic books a lot and i want to delve into creative endeavors in spite of not really being good at anything in particular.
nice to meet you all!
hello! third forum website iāve joined in the past couple years; itās a good alternative to twitter and the like imo. and a forum for an okay videogames podcast!? why not, right?
i'm probably gonna lurk mostly though, haha. uhh, as for proper introduction, i'm just a guy with too much free time. i do a bit of art, and i play too much and too little videogames. all i think about is animal crossing (2001). and uhh, tamagotchi.
thanks for having me!
@coffeentacos Welcome! Iām considering pursuing a library sciences degree as well. I hope youāre program goes well.
@RubySunrise Do it, robot! Librarians kick AZZ!
hi everybody!
listening to the insert credit podcast recently turned into my monday lunch break ritual and I am really enjoying it. My story of first stumbling across timās tokimeki memorial review, then watching all the other action button review videos and finally checking out insert credit is probably far from unique.
after catching up with the latest episodes I started going backward in time and shortly after hearing timās Peter Thiel anecdote in Ep. 154 I came across a video about Peter Thiel from a german comedy show that ended with a James Bond themed music video starring him as the main villain. I thought you might enjoy this too (lyrics in english).
I havenāt proactively engaged in conversation with internet strangers for an eternity but felt like giving it a shot again since this feels like a welcoming and interesting community.
A few things about me: I studied computer science and currently work as a team lead of a software engineering team -(un)fortunately(?) not in games though. Iām from Germany, study Japanese in my free time and I like various kinds of video games and music. I also used to play music and am trying to get back into that.
nice to meet you!
tell you what: āheck peter thielā is a common refrain across the podcast and website so you're welcome indeed.
@exodus heck him indeed, Iām glad to fit right in!
Howdy! Iām Sean, and Iāve been creeping silently around the various Action Button and Insert Credit haunts over the many years, and I figured Iād jump in here. Hope youāre well. Happy to be here and perusing the various goings-on.
Hi there! o/
@SHC welcome!!!
Hello! My name is Tristan. I want to share a short story about regret. When I was in the seventh grade, I played Final Fantasy 7, a lot. I loved that game so much that I crammed my official Brady Games Final Fantasy 7 strategy guide into my backpack and took it to school with me every single day. I introduced the game to this girl that I liked. I got stuck in the Temple of the Ancients and restarted my game, naming Cloud after myself, and Tifa after that girl that I liked, Oregon Trail Style. That girl that I liked and I played Final Fantasy 7 together, over the landline phone. I told her that I named Tifa after her. She told me that she named Red XIII after me.
And that's how I became a furry.
Just kidding, I'm not a furry, but if I was, you better believe that my fursona would be whatever Red XIII is.
No offense to furries.
Also, I like that Insert Credit Show.
Welcome!! Relatable origin story.
@tristan Welcome! Really dodged a masamune there by having that partial playthrough under your belt and not naming Aerith after her, instead.
@kory I know right. I still couldnāt get outta that friend zone: that demon wall never went down; however, I still beat the game, Iām still friends with the homie who gave Red XIII my name, and I vow never to name characters after IRL people
